He forgot to tum his clock back on this weekend that marked the end of daylight savings time, and he actually had an hour to spare, which enabled him to practice the bomb. Cole Finished first in class on his IMS/GPR Yamaha. '" was third in class coming into the pits," remarked Cole. "I was able to pick off the two guys in my class about 2 1/2 miles into the second loop. I worked hard for this win. I went over the bars in a sand wash, and the rocky sections were frustrating for me. This was the most technical race I've ever done." Perennial desert racer AI Guzman powered his VSK Kawasaki to first place in the Super Senior (Over 60) division. He finished second overall for the one-loop riders, behind Miniclass winner Corey Wolfe. Guzman also had a one-kick start on the bomb and quickly headed left, out of the dust. "This was a rider's course - tough, rocky goat trails and no flat sections," stated Guzman. Anna Jo Segale clinched the number-one plate for the 10th time in her racing career with her victory in the Women's Expert division. Congratulations, Anna! Results Carlsbad Raceway: Lee Bacon crisped the rest of the Over 40 Experts for the overall class victory at the SRA's last race of the year in Carlsbad, California. outside. Maxwell sustained second by a tire's length as the two exited the whoops. Adams continued to hound Maxwell as the duo headed toward the motocross track and out of view. Bacon was the first rider to come back into view - and he was the first to the checkers. Adams worked his way around Maxwell on the final lap to claim second. Maxwell took third, with Knapp and Howell fourth and fifth, respectively. the riders' endurance early on, as there was nowhere to rest. Riders quickly realized that this National~caliber course was going to be special. The second 40-mile loop started very tight and then opened into a fun, 8-mile, highspeed valley run. The rest of the second loop was a nice mixture of varied terrain that was very challenging but not ridiculous or impossible. After a one-kick start on the bomb, 19-year-old Ryan Kritsch of Bakersfield, California, found himself in the top five Amateurs at the end of the bomb and third overall as he headed into the pits. Halfway through the second loop, he picked off the last two riders and cruised his Thor/Goat/Dad-backed Honda into the finish chute for first overall Amateur and first 250cc honors. "I reatly liked this course," said Kritsch. "The technical sections were good, and there weren't too many whoops. It was a fun race, and the best part was, I didn't crash!" Joey Bianton also fired up his CRF450R on the first kick and led the bomb run for the Novice line. "I started left, because I could see the wind was peeling the dust off to the right: noted Blanton. "The course was rough but fun. I really enjoyed the technical sections." Blanton kept the pace steady and held on for the overall Novice win and first Open Novice.
