lr' osh Demuth kept his stranglehold
M on the National Arenacross Series
with a double win on Friday night in
Worcester, Massachusetts. And even
though his teammate Tom Hofmaster
and KX-mounted Darcy Lange traded
wins on Saturday, it was Demuth's
consistency, with a pair of runner-up
finishes, that were the story of the
night - well, that and five-time champ
Buddy Antunez's blow-up at the CCE
officials.
Friday saw first-turn pileups in
both mains, with the 125cc main redflagged as a result. When the 250cc
pileup occurred, Antunez assumed
another red flag would appear and let
off the gas, but when it didn't come
out, Antunez was left out to dry.

to the front of the pack in the 125cc
main and had the line but was immediately bumped to second by Jeff
Willoh. Phil Lawrence, Tom Kelley,
and Justin Brayton rounded the top
five, and they were the only ones to
make it through the turn, as Rusty
Holland lay broken at the entrance to
the whoops - the race was red-flagged
while he got medical attention.
On the restart, Kelly Smith nailed
the start again, and again a pileup

ensued, but this time all the riders
were up and running quickly. Demuth
managed to sneak past Smith, and
that was all she wrote. Lange ended
up second after Smith fell, then came
Hofmaster, Brad Hagseth and
Antunez rounding out the top five.
"Me and Rusty [Holland] got out
there on the start, and I think I hurt
him real bad," Demuth said. "I'm
going to say a prayer for him and
hope he gets better real soon. I feel
rea I bad for him - it's kind of hard to
