CUFFORD, PA, OCT. 20
More than 300 of the most talented
motocrossers in AMA's District 6 came out to
the fast and technical Hurricane Hills race-
11-second advantage. Rounding out the top
five were Pamart, Bear, Desiderio and Quinn.
It was a tie for the holeshot between
Pamart and Bear in the final moto, with Dickson, Desiderio and Robert Kurtz in tow. The
top three started lap three by doing the finishline triple and had the crowd on its feet. Only
about a second and a half separated the top
three, and it was still anybody's race. Pamart
kept his head down and made no mistakes out
front, while Bear went down on the last lap,
giving second to Dickson and third to Desiderio, before remounting fourth. Pamart held on
and got the second-moto win, with Dickson,
Desiderio, Bear and Kurtz trailing.
Dale Hull of Hampton, New Jersey, topped
the Pee Wee podium with a perfect 1- 1 score.
Kevin Hicks of East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, finished second overall with a couple of
consistent 2-2 rides, and third overall was
Tyler Tillman of Glen Mills, Pennsylvania, who
finished with a 3-3 score.
Hicks got his KTM to the front and led the
pack out of the first tum in the first Pee Wee
moto but was quickly passed by Tillman.
Hicks dropped to second, Hull was third, Carmen Cordero was fourth and Joey Pozza was
fifth. The slippery conditions and big ruts
made the first Pee Wee mota a test to see who
could keep their machines on two wheels.
About halfway in to the second lap, Tillman
and Hicks took each other out, which allowed
Hull to take the lead. Hicks remounted second
and Tillman in third. Hull quickly pulled away
and had an 11-second lead by the end of the
moto. Hicks finished second, with Tillman
third, Cordero fourth and Pozza fifth.
Tillman got his PW50 out front and rounded the first tum with the lead in moto two, but
it didn't last long, as Hicks came charging by
to take the lead, relegating Tillman to second.

6 Championship is a 16-round series, with
each District 6 motocross track hosting two
rounds, to detennine who is the overall best

second and final round of the series.
Mother Nature sort of cooperated for this
event. She dumped about three-quarters of an
inch of rain on the area a couple of days
before the event but at least provided mostly
sunny skies for Sunday; though the practice
sessions and the first few motes were a bit on
the slick and slippery side, the track did eventually dry out. Nevertheless, the track did get
pretty rough and very rutted.
Honda thumper pilot Greg Pamart traded
wins in the Over 25 Expert class with veteran
Kawasaki pilot Gaylon Dickson, with Pamart
scoring that all-important second-moto win for
a final score of 2-1 and the class overall.
Dickson took the runner-up spot with his 1-2
tally. Stephen Desiderio (3-4) rounded out
the podium.
Pamart got his Honda thumper to the front
quickly in the first Over 25 Expert moto, with
Michael Bear, Desiderio, Dickson and Vance
Draghi trailing. Two turns into lap two, Dickson passed Desiderio and Bear to take sec~
ond, dropping Desiderio to third and Bear to
fourth. Robert Quinn moved up to fifth. Bear
came back to pass Desiderio for third on the
back tabletop. Desiderio was relegated to
fourth. Dickson charged and closed the gap
on Pamart and made the pass for the lead on
the big sweeper turn near the start on lap
three. Pamart was reiegated to second. Pamart
came back and attempted several passes on
the follOWing lap but was unsuccessful. Then
disaster struck: Pamart went down in the same
tum in which Dickson had passed him for the
lead on the previous lap, handing the win to
ing the line a scant 0.03 seconds ahead of the
defending class champion in a photo finish.
