use," Chaves said. "I started thinking, 'It's raining and it's grippy rock,' and I was very confused on what [pressure] to use in the tire. I started good in the first few sections, but section four was very slick logs, and that is where I took my first two points." On the final two laps, Chaves dropped his tire pressure to three pounds just for the log section, and then raised it back up to five for the remainder of his rides. The strategy paid off, and Chaves cleaned the rest of the event. For Chaves, the series win helped salvage a very disappointing year. "I feel very good because this year, for me, was very bad luck. In the beginning of the year, I had a very bad accident and I had to quit for four months. I started to ride again just two weeks before the start of the Fall Series, so I am very happy with the win. I want to come back next year and ride with Sherco - they are a very good team - and try to be in the top three in the U.S." Another top-10 National rider, Keith Wineland of Colorado, also attended the series finale and went 5-4 on his Gas Gas USA-sponsored TXT Pro. Fellow Gas Gas rider Jason Carpenter of Kansas City rounded out the top five for the weekend with a 4-5 performance. Chaves took the series crown with 175 points, followed by Kempkes with 155 and Carpenter with 130. Gabe Mizell of Arkansas and Wieland rounded out the top five with 104 and 101 points, respectively. eN Observed Trials Fell Serl.s Lengley, Oldehoma Resulb: October 19-20, 2002 [Rounds 7-81 Day One C'SHIP: 1.
