between the top qualifiers with Carroll just edging Flores off the line and pulling away for a 8.11-to-8.57 win. Like Carroll, Ryan Schnitz remained unbeaten and un-scored upon in the Zero Gravity 600 SuperSport class. Early in eliminations he cemented his second straight championship. Schnitz, riding the Team Green ZX-6R, easily took his seventh straight pole with a 9.77/135 followed by three riders in the 9.9's including Chip Hunter, Pat Leonard and Eddie Krawiec. Hunter was taken out by former 600SS standout Michael Phillips who went on to face (and get beaten by) Schnitz in the semis. On the other side of the ladder, Krawiec got by Leonard in the quarterfinals to get an earned bye into his third final of the year. Krawiec put a huge holeshot on Schnitz in the final and had a better top speed. But elapsed time wins drag races and no one can e.t. a 600 like Ryan Schnitz. The now two-time champion ran nothing but 9.7's throughout the event and kept pace in the final with a 9.72 at 136 to beat Krawiec's 9.90/137. Rick McWaters should have the Yamaha Hot Rod Cruiser class championship sewn up, as his Harley Davidson was again the dominant bike in the class. The Patrick Racing Yamaha team brought in a new rider, 600 SuperSport competitor Michael Ray to augment team rider Mark Underwood for the event. McWaters once again took the top qualifying spot. running a 9.97 at 132 as Underwood held second at 10.02. With nine bikes in the field the elimination ladder had McWaters and Underwood meeting each other in the semifinals, and that's what happened, with McWaters taking the win with the best lap of the event at 9.89/134 to Underwood's 10.05. McWaters met Ray, who had a semifinal bye, in the final and took the win to remain undefeated, 10.00 to 10.32. The results of the class are unofficial as the cylinder heads of all the semifinalists were confiscated for a planned technical inspection by AMA/Prostar.
