Large was fired up for his second pass and was going for it right from the start. He leaped over the breaker and stormed up to the big jump, dragging the cases on the landing, but he kept it pinned to get within a fraction of the lead. "I made a few little mistakes near the top that cost me the little bits of a second that kept Tiger out front," Large said. He would take second with his 6.891-second run. Rodney Williams put together a fast 7.073-second ride on his Harley-Davidson to claim fourth overall. Dan Watson wheeled in the Watson Racing Honda for the most important ride of the year for his son Dave. "I found something on my 540cc ride," Watson said. "I need to stand up more here. We've re-jetted the bike and made it longer, now I have to ride loose." Watson was a little restrained up the ramp so he wouldn't overshoot the breaker then he whipped the Honda for all it had. "I knew it was faster than my 540cc ride, but I didn't know if it was fast enough," Watson said. The crowd went nuts when Watson's 7.0920-second run was announced, .063 faster than Templeton's fifth place. Wolfe wasn't able to crack the seven-second mark to end the season, and Watson was champion by a single point. "I was under the gun after my bad first ride, so I just tried to ride the hell out of it and it worked," Watson said. "I can't even describe how awesome today has been." "Well I won six in a row and this will give me momentum for next year so I can get the number-one plate back," Strank said. "Dave rode great all year and he earned the champi. onship."
