meets the surf, horsepower of the
two-wheeled variety takes over the
famous mile track at the Del Mar
Fairgrounds for a weekend of fun and
competition. This year, the excitement got started early Saturday moming as more than 100 vintage motorcycle racers took part in round five of
Eddie Mulder's West Coast Vintage
Dirt Track Series, one of only two vintage mile races on the West Coast.

Coordinator Joe Hankard provided a
first-class facility for the entire weekend and assured that the cushioned
one-mile oval was well prepared for
the riders. A tight race schedule and
4 p.m. curfew meant that Mulder
would have to park his own Triumphs
and Harleys and take charge of the
starting line so the races wouldn't run
over the allotted time.
