we have a long way to go to be competitive with the Harleys. Once you get it pointed straight, the power is just awesome, but the key is in getting it turned. All in all, I'm happy to finish fifth today. Johnson nearly unloaded several times in turn two. He had drawn close to McCoy and was threatening to pass him for third place on lap seven when he almost got thrown into the bales hard. "I'm just glad it wasn't 25 laps," Johnson said. "It was only 12, so I could let it all hang out. On my practice start I missed a gear, and I may have bent something up in the transmission. When I went to hit third gear off the start, nothing happened, so I had my work cut out for me. I found some good lines. I crashed about four times but never hit the ground. I knew there was no way that I was going to be able to pass Kenny down the front straightaway. I tried drafting him, but that thing was so fast. It just looked like he had a little too much power for the corners. He was spinning it up a little bit, and I took advantage of that." McCoy was the man on the move late in the race, dicing with Cool beth for second in all the corners before taking over second place on lap nine. "I actually started catching Geo a little, but I ran out of laps," McCoy said. "( was just having fun out there. Every time I hit a hole out there, I laughed and squeezed a little harder. When I got done, both sets of cheeks were sore. It was a good way to end a real challenging year for us. It was up and down. So many stupid things happened. Next year will be better. I have a new sponsor in Rockwall Honda, and we're looking for some good things to happen." Bartels' H-D/Custom Chrome's Shaun Russell rounded out the top five, finishing well off the pace. "I'm walking, and the season is over, so I'm happy," Russell said. "I didn't feel real safe out there, so I just took what I got. I tried to avoid getting out of shape, but I was behind a few people who really got out of shape. How hard do you want to race on a track like this?"
