Strank won with the day's fastest ride - a 5.473-second run that turned out to be too fast even for Strank as he had to bail off the R1 at the top of the hill. Chad Disbennett (TriJ ended up second with Dave Watson (Hon) taking third. Watson now holds a fivepoint lead over Strank going into the final round at The Devil's Staircase in Oregonia, Ohio, on October 13. In the 540cc class, Watson captured his third 540cc National Championship in impressive fashion with his third win of the year. Disbennett (Tri) finished second, with Paul Pinsonnault (Hon) taking third. Steve Hislop (Due) put together a 3-2 tally in the final round of the MCN British Superbike Championship, and that was good enough to give the 40year-old the British Superbike Championship.
