for the win. Gracyk crashed out of contention
on Saturdlly, and Sipes was again runner-up.
Hepler also outlasted Team Green rider
Kyle Chisholm of Florida for Friday's Schoolboy (12-15) win, and then topped Michigander Josh LichUe on Saturday in that class.
In the Mini classes, there was another racer
who rode perfectly. Mike Alessi, the l3-yearold Honda pilot who owns five Loretta Lynn's
titles, got some experience on a real National
track by winning all of his Open Mini and 85cc
(12-13) motos. The trip from Califomia was
worth it, as Mike cleaned up with nearly halflap leads in all his motos. Team Green Senior
Mini pilot Mitchell Dougherty came home second in both days' Open Mini races, and then
took two wins in the 85cc (14-15) division.
Alessi was pursued by Virginia's Zack
Osbome in both days' 85cc (12-13) motos_
Mike's brother Jeff Alessi collected top-five
finishes in all his races.
