Lorusso Trade Paint and Wins •• , Devore, California By CHRIS O'NEAL sJdacar at lhe 1967 toM TT ••• DISCIPLINE: • • • • • • • • Motocross MIDDLEBORO, MA, SEPT. 8 Halfway through the fall series in New England's motocross season, the battles for the titles are still heating up. The series held its ninth of 17 rounds in the Massachusetts town of Middleboro - or 'Muddyboro," as it is sometimes known, as the often overwatered track becomes downright soupy most of the time. As several matos, the track becomes very rough and dries up, making for completely different terrain throughout the day. Suzuki's Tony Lorusso battled with Yamaha's Wally Silva in the Expert races. Defending champion Lorusso, from Connecticut, held off Silva for another win in the 125cc Expert class, extending his points lead while heading to what looks like another championship in 2002. The 250cc Expert class would not go as smoothly for Lorusso. Silva showed him the fast lines around the track and went on to win the 250cc Expert class. Silva also took first in the Open Expert class. Kawasaki's Jacob Morrison dominated the 125cc Youth A class and also took the 125cc Amateur class with relative ease. Morrison's next move will be to the Expert class, as he will most likely be bumped up after a dominant performance like that.
