track. Recent changes to the layout by Mike Harasmisl and the Hunt Moto Park staff have been received well by the WNYMA riders. Special race-day sponsor Support Plus Racing made it a "Twin Air Day" and many riders benefited by taking home new air filters. This race also featured the posting of the 2002 WNYMA Summer Series awards. There have been numerous moves up and down in nearly every class from the Spring Series standings to the Summer Series standings. Aaron Dieter has recovered from his late-2oo I season-ending injury to lay claim to the 250cc-Open Expert Summer Series title, as well as grabbing second in the 16-24 Combined class and riding a variety of loaner bikes to fourth place in the 125cc Expert class. Meanwhile, several riders such as Don Schmidt, Brandon Kuhn, Jamie Robinson, Adam Boume and Corey Kandefer continue to prove that they can win any moto on any given Sunday. In 125cc/250cc-Open Amateur action, Bobby Butler shone like a shooting star. Ron "The Honda Guy" Nye, Jeremy Stewart and Steven Udell are all as fast as can be, but watch out for recently elevated rider Brandon Meier to make his mark on the Amateur class before season's end. The WNYMA's biggest class by far is the Beginners class, with loads of new riders com~ peting in the J25cc and 25Occ-Open Beginner classes. On this day, 30 riders signed up for the 125cc class, and 41 riders signed up for the 250cc-Open Beginner class. Matthew Coleman has moved from sixth to first in the 125cc class, as well as capturing third in the 250cc-Open Summer Series standings. Michael Lenartowicl appears to be another top contender in the 125cc class week in and week out. Martin Ozog has powered his way from fifth to first in the 250cc-Open standings, stringing together several mota wins and a great rider-attendance record, to boot. Joshua Wilmot and Coleman again look like title contenders in the class. The Mini classes are chock-full of young speed freaks and present some of the tightest racing action around. Louis Tepas used consistency and his motocross persistence to move from third to first in the Summer Series standings for the Junior Mini class. Andrew Meehan, Doug Waif and Jake Eddy round out the top contenders in this huge class of young hotshoes. In the Mini Combined arena, Nicholas Basamania elevated his game from fourth to first for top dog Summer Series honors. The usual suspects who dominate in this class are once again Waif, Tepas and Meehan. The Senior Mini class was also topped by Basamania, and his willingness to compete under any 'weather conditions imaginable is remarkable. Stephen Carlin, Chris Carlson, Jeff Swarthout and Dan Lewandowski have won several motos each, but none has the rider-attendance record to match Basamania's. The 50cc classes have exploded, from the sheer numbers of riders to the record number of cheers from the fans. Jason Chacho has been riding hard and charging from fourth to first in the 50cc Pee Wee (4-8) class. while slipping slightly from first to second in the 50cc (4-6) class. Nicholas Monachino was able to best Chacho for the 50cc (4-6) honors, and they have both raced their hearts out this year.
