Local Over 30 fast guy Lawrence Morris put the hurt on his competition, taking the class win after a great battle with Tyler Larson, Cesar Lombrana, David Bingham and Charlie Lugo. Morris went 2-1, with Lombrana taking second on a 4-2 tally. Lugo put his Honda 450 in third with a 3-3 score, while Bingham finished fourth by going 6-4 on the day. Roiand Esparza rounded out the top five with a 5-6 score. Larson, who won the first moto, failed to come to the line for the second moto, giving him a DNF for the day. KTM-mounted Miles Moore simpiy demolished his competition in the 125cc Beginner class, beating out 25 other racers. Moore put in 10 perfect laps, taking the win over secondplaced Ivan Zarazua, who went 3-3. When the day was finally over and all the trophies. swag and watermelons were gone. everyone left the park completely satisfied after enough moto action to last until - well, maybe next week.... SoBe Texas Championship Summer Series Round &: Cycle Ranch MX Park FLORESVILLE, TX, JULY 20-21 After a solid week of tropical downpours, two rainout dates and excessive flooding through- out central Texas, the final round of the SaBe Texas Summer Series finally went off with more than 375 racers in attendance. The weather was fantastic (for those who don't mind 100-plus-degree heat - in the shade) and the racetrack, as usual, was loamy perfection. thanks to Mike Pitts and crew. The series was a great success, thanks to SoBe and Donny McDaniel, along with Steve Burns, Suzi Beabout and Kyle Parks of Extreme Outdoor Motors (who provided the· championship number-one plates). Ponca City announcer Lynn Nickerson was on hand, doing a fantastic job on the mic and briefly interviewing some of the racers. The series was sponsored by SaSe, VP Fuels, Mr. Moto, Spy, Maxima, Fly Gear, Western Power Sports, EVS, Swishers Action Power Sports, and J&M Racing, with additionai support provided by Cycle Country Yamaha of New Braunfels, Joe Harrison Honda, Alamo Cycle Plex, Yamaha of San Antonio, and, of course, the other tracks involved in the series - San Jacinto, Village Creek and Highlands motocross parks. Steve Foster (Hon). had a busy weekend of racing, taking home two championship titles - in the 60cc Senior (10-11) and 60cc Open classes - plus two class wins. in the Four-Stroke Mini and the Women's Open class. Myers also raced on to a pair of second-place finishes in the 60cc Senior and 60cc Open classes. She also finished fifth in the aocc Junior class. Watch out, guys. this girl is getting fast! Other double-class winners included Tay- lor Whittaker, Kyle Swanson, Ian Matthews and David Shade. FMF/JM Racing/Noll Bakke Industries/F1y/ EVS/Spy Optics-backed Brandon Beabout was the only rider to win three classes at the event· the 125cc and 250cc Intermediate classes, as well as the 250cc Open class. Beabout also placed second in the 125cc Open contest after a good race with Donny Jackson. Yamaha-mounted, MSR/Siikolene-backed Kent "The Rhinestone Cowboy" Howerton was once again the fastest Vet of the weekend, proving that age is of no consequence for this rider. David Shade from the Good Bud Racing Team was the only rider who could dice with him in the combined Over 25/Over 40 Expert contest. Shade won the Over 25 Expert portion, followed by Pro Circuit/Answer/ Wiseco/Cole. Cole & Easley-backed Vince n __ S Cycle Ranch MX Park: Brandon Beabout was the only triple-class winner at the sixth and final round of the SoBe Texas Championship Summer Series in Floresville, Texas.
