Castle Rock Fairgrounds Christian in a Close One By SAM HALBERT CASTLE ROCK, WA, JULY 27 In the three-lap Pro Dash For Cash, Jeff Annen got the holeshot, followed by the two Halbert brothers, Sam and Jethro. The order remained the same to the finish. Jethro Halbert got the holeshot at the start of the Pro Sport/Expert main event, followed by Ryan Anderson, Eric Rickman and Annen. Halbert led the first lap until his bike broke and he pulled off, bumping the rest of the pack up one spot. Anderson pulled away and took the win, ahead of Rickman and Annen. Christian Vernon got the holeshot at the start of the Open Money main event, followed by J.P, Simonson, Annen, Sam Halbert, Marty Weisler and the rest of the pack. Vemon started to gap the rest of the field as Simonson seemed to be holding up Annen, until Simonson bailed off over the jump about 10 laps into the race, bringing out the red flag. On the third attempt, the single-file restart was called fair, and Vernon was in the lead, ahead of Annen and Eric Rickman, but Sam quickly regained third by passing Rickman. It became a five-lap dash to the finish, with Annen all over Vernon, who bobbled, bringing Annen and Sam right up to his rear wheel and making the race exciting, but Vernon was able to hold on to the lead and take the win, ahead of Annen, Sam, and Jethro Halbert, who worked his way up to fourth from the third row after switching to Dick Wall's backup bike, Rickman rounded out the top five, Danny Casey got the holeshot in the Open Motorcycle main, followed by Nick Sellers and John Bredfield. Sam and Weisler worked their way through the field, picking off riders one by one; they ended up third and fourth halfway through the race. Weisler made a pass on Sam down the front straight, but Sam got him back in turn one and proceeded to work on Sellers, who was holding second, Marty, however, repl5lssed Sam around the outside, and on the last lap they both passed Sellers. Danny Casey got in the lead early and stayed out of the battles. Weisler and Sam Halbert rounded out the top three. In the 85cc Modified main event, Brent Schnitzer got the holeshot, ahead of Brad Baker, Jacob Lehmann and Scott Baker. Brad was all over Schnitzer; he made a few passes down the straightaway, but they didn't stick at first, until, after a few intense laps, Brad pulled off the pass. However, it didn't look like Schnitzer was ready to settle for second, as he put on a few very determined charges. attempting to regain the lead, but Brad held on and took the win, ahead of Schnitzer, Lehman and Scott Baker, who was all over Lehman but wasn't able to pull off a pass.
