earnjng himself the "Iron Animal" award of the
weekend. Another note of interest was the fact
that Shade was the only rider who would consistently jump the downhill infield triple.
Local Over 30 fast guy Lawrence Morris
put the hurt on his competition, taking the
class win after a great battle with Tyler Larson,
Cesar Lombrana, David Bingham and Charlie
Lugo. Morris went 2-1, with Lombrana taking
second on a 4-2 tally. Lugo put his Honda 450
in third with a 3-3 score, while Bingham finished fourth by going 6-4 on the day. Roiand
Esparza rounded out the top five with a 5-6
score. Larson, who won the first moto, failed
to come to the line for the second moto, giving him a DNF for the day.
KTM-mounted Miles Moore simpiy demolished his competition in the 125cc Beginner
class, beating out 25 other racers. Moore put
in 10 perfect laps, taking the win over secondplaced Ivan Zarazua, who went 3-3.
When the day was finally over and all the

The combined race action of Sport Motard
and Ughtweight Superrnotard made another
tight, action-filled event. Newcomer Sven Bley
grabbed the holeshot and led the group into
the chicane for the first lap. Sport Motard
racer Shane Myers moved into the overall lead

SoBe Texas Championship Summer Series
Round &: Cycle Ranch MX Park
FLORESVILLE, TX, JULY 20-21
After a solid week of tropical downpours, two
rainout dates and excessive flooding through-
out central Texas, the final round of the SaBe
Texas Summer Series finally went off with
more than 375 racers in attendance. The
weather was fantastic (for those who don't
mind 100-plus-degree heat - in the shade)
and the racetrack, as usual, was loamy
perfection. thanks to Mike Pitts and crew.
The series was a great success, thanks to
SoBe and Donny McDaniel, along with Steve
Burns, Suzi Beabout and Kyle Parks of
Extreme Outdoor Motors (who provided the·
championship number-one plates). Ponca City
announcer Lynn Nickerson was on hand,
doing a fantastic job on the mic and briefly
interviewing some of the racers. The series
was sponsored by SaSe, VP Fuels, Mr. Moto,
Spy, Maxima, Fly Gear, Western Power
Sports, EVS, Swishers Action Power Sports,
and J&M Racing, with additionai support provided by Cycle Country Yamaha of New
Braunfels, Joe Harrison Honda, Alamo Cycle
Plex, Yamaha of San Antonio, and, of course,
the other tracks involved in the series - San
Jacinto, Village Creek and Highlands
motocross parks.
