AMA National Hare Scrambles Series Round 6: Dutch Sport !'Park ie Andrews' win pushes him closer to Brian Garrahan for his second straight championship By MARK SPORE PHOTOS BY MANDY SPORE BLOOMINGDALE, M1, JULY 21 eam Green Kawasaki's Fred Andrews took a big step toward defending his National Hare Scrambles Championship, winning round six of the series in dominating fashion. The Kawasaki/Pro Circuit-supported rider won the event for the second year in a row, making his trip to the Dutch Sport Park facility in Bloomingdale, Michigan, quite worthwhile. With the series points leader, KTM-supported Brian Garrahan, settling for fifth on the day, Andrews made up some valuable points in his quest to repeat as the series champion. "I really liked the track today," Andrews said after the event. "It's too bad we didn't get any rain prior to the race, because the dUllt was pretty' bad. It was definitely a hot one out there. " Finishing in the runner-up position was Andrews' Kawasaki teammate Chuck Woodford, who held second for the entire race, despite some early pressure from Honda-mounted Doug Blackwell. Rounding out the podium was Michigan resident Blair Bersano, who rode his F&S Suzuki to a strong third-place finish - also for the second year in a row. Bersano has broken his right wrist twice in the past several months, so he is probably hoping that his podium placing marks his turn-around point for the year. This is the third straight year that the Dutch Sport Park facility has held a National Hare Scrambles, and the course was a great mix of terrain, despite the dusty conditions in the woods and on the grasstrack. The 7-mile track featured some tight, off-camber woods sections, including some steep downhills, which were followed by equally technical uphills. Combine these conditions with a long, jump-filled motocross track, which was extremely well-manicured, and you have the makings for a great hare scrambles course. As the nine AA riders headed into the first turn, Team Green Kawasaki's
