scores maximum points.
Acree's chances were hurt before
the race began. While riding back to
the pits after a qualifying problem,
the tube to the radiator-overflow
catch bottle on the left side of the
Suzuki GSX-R750 came loose, spraying the inside of his thigh with scalding water. The thigh was wrapped in
an Ace bandage, but moving side to
side was difficult. So was traction.
Acree chose a rear-tire compound
that he hadn't tried in qualifying. "We.
should have stuck with something
'we'd been on," he said. "Between
that and the leg, I couldn't adjust." It
added up to a 17th-place finish.
Just behind Moore came Chris
Caylor, Kawasaki's Tommy Hayden,
and Brian Livengood, fifth to eighth
covered by less than 1.5 seconds. CN
