dUring a press conference at its annual dealer meeting at the Midwest
Express Center in downtown Milwaukee, Wisconsin. on July 16.
Just as it did during its 95th anniversary. the cornpany has
favored the refinernent of its existing model lineup over the introduction of any new products. although Harley customers can reasonably
expect more new products in 2004. Even so, the current range of
Harley motorcycles has been adomed in rather striking anniversary
colors - even the VRSCA V-Rod sports a painted-on sheen this year.
Using an entirely new paint process. the two-tone hue on the
anniversary models is known as "Sterling Sliver and Vivid Black"
(the scheme is portrayed on this Road King). Harley has also
released a second color choice, known as "Gunmetal," available on
all models. Also unlike the 95th. the schemes will be on every model
produced for the 2003 model year, and Harley-Davidson has committed to a 14-month production cycle in order to fill the demand for
the centennial models.
Each model will sport the cloisonne and coined 100th anniversary logo not only on the fuel tank, but also on the engine cases - a
first for the company.
"We wanted to deliver something really specia1to our customers
in 2003," Willie G. Davidson, vice president of styling, said. "With
