World Championship Road Race Series
Round 8: Donington Park
got a good drive out of the corner,
and into the next corner, the penultimate hairpin, dived firmly inside to
seize control of the racing line and
lead from there to the finish. The by
now thoroughly depressed Nieto
didn't even try to fight back, finishing
seven 10ths adrift. Elias was half-asecond ahead of Battaini; the dogged
Rolfo a lonely fifth, with de Puniet
sixth, five seconds adrift, never challenging, but fending off Aoki by two
seconds.
Matsudo managed to keep his
Yamaha ahead of the gradually closing Debon to the end; the Spaniard in
turn had his hands full with Shahrol
Yuzy and Casey Stoner jousting back
and forth inches behind him, finishing
in that order. They had dropped
Alzamora in the process, and he narrowly fended off Locatelli for 12th.
Sekiguchi was a distant 14th, then
David Checa took the last point.
(Left) McCoy was able to finish 12th
after his lengthy layoff.
(Below) Olivier ,Jacque 119) had his
best result of the year In fifth - as
did Sete Glbemau 115), who finished
