on their own almost-identical 1983 AlphaControl Maico. As sibling rivalries go, this duel was a tame one, with the older Geddis taking the moto win both times out for the class overall and bragging rights for the day. In the Ultima 250cc Intermediate class, Greg Kendrick took the win for the day on his 1982 RM250 Suzuki. Scott Silvia also did some winning on his TheMotoWeb.com-sponsored Uni Trak Kawasaki in the Ultima 500cc Expert class. In the Gran Prix 500cc Novice class, there was some friendly rivalry at center stage, with both Ric Tipton and Andy Shaffer giving it their all. Tipton and Shaffer are certainly a dri- ving force behind the appearance of so many Maico's at the events, and the pair rode their own blood-red machines around the lighted Club Moto track. This time, however, it was Tipton's tum to capture the class win, edging out Shaffer, who had come out on top at the previous event. The Historic 500cc Novice class found yet another Maico rider, Guy Coulston, taking the win over the Suzuki-mounted Howard Sutton. The two traded moto wins, with Coulston taking the all-important second·moto win to secure the class overall and bring a close to the day's racing. The next stop in the series is round five in Eugene, Oregon. Results HSTRC 500 NOV: l. Ou)' Coulston (fl\al); 2. Howard Sutton (&4). HSTRC 500 lNT: I. Steve Jer1I;o (1'\ail. ap 250 rKlV, I. Goodpa"" Pleasure Riders Hillclimb Brown's Red-Hot, Fetters Unfettered Bv BOD NORTHROP CAYUGA, IN, JUNE 23 It looked like a repeat of the Saturday night Fast Time war would occur on Sunday at the Pleasure Riders' Sunday hillclimb. On Saturday night, Randy "Rocketman" Trosper set the fast time in the 600cc class on his first ride and held it nearly all night until "Fast Andy· Fortner took it from him deep in the second round in the 750cc class. On this day, Trosper again set the fast time in the first round in the 600cc class, a 4.196-second run on his CRSOO, and Fortner crashed at 93 feet. In second-round action, however I Fortner delivered another of his high-flying rides on his Honda to post a new fast time of 4.180 seconds. Trosper couldn't beat that time, so it looked like history had indeed repeated itself. But then came Chris Brown on his Honda, and he unleashed a picture-perfect ride of his own, stopping the clock in a sizzling 4.175 seconds and slipping under Fortner by five-thousandths of a second for the class win. Fast Andy tumed in a good time on his 750cc triple in the next class, but his 4.212-second run. which was good enough for that class win, wasn't enough to reclaim the Fest Time trophy and money. Darryl Johnson finished second on his BSA, behind Fortner, in the 750cc class, with Jason Northrup running third.
