Round 1 1 : Brainerd Intarnational Raceway
One problem was a handlebar that
was slipping off a little bit, which
made it tough to grab the brake lever.
"I figured they'd catch up to me in
the infield because I was struggling in
there, but through one and two I was
working really good," he said, and no
wonder.
Jensen, in fact, had won a Superstock race the previous weekend at
Brainerd, though in much more temperate conditions.
"I don't know if it's just the heat
that's doing it, or if they did it
between last weekend and this weekend, but it is definjtely slippery, and
they painted the lines around the
track since last weekend too," he said
after his best-ever AMA finish.
After Jensen and Connell left the
pack behind, there were five riders
contesting fourth. Fergusson led the
pack and held it to the finish, taking
fourth place. Cruise America's Jason
DiSalvo ran as high as fourth before
crashing on the 10th lap.
Everyone moved up a spot, with
Acree up to fourth in tum three on- the
final lap, only to get passed and drop
to sixth behind Haskovec.
CPR/Donneli's Shane Clarke,
who'd passed Acree on the final lap,
had a mechanical problem that
caused him to fall in the final corner,
handing the spot to Tuff Dog's Alan
Schmidt, who was eight seconds
back.
