the whole time to earn the 1DDcc-c1ass win. Jerick Thetford was the closest to Ragain. earning second in the 80cc class. Jase Martin kept his KTM up front in the 50cc class but had plenty of competition. Billy Nance tried a different line through the middle of a mudhole to try to reel in Martin and ended up getting a free bike wash. Travis Horton ended up going through the same section and put it in up to the seat. All the youths had big smiles on their face after the 40-minute race - and plenty of dirty gear to clean. Dave Rafferty claimed another win for Suzuki on the day as he topped the A class and finished second overall. Local Shannon Bumett was the only Vet rider to do six laps to claim the win. The most competitive class of the day was the Senior B contest. John Sommer led a group of seven riders that put in six laps, with many in the top 10. Maybe as this group ages, they get faster. Ron Dilback had his KTM up front but was held up by a lapper with two turns to go and Sommer was able to squeeze by for the win. "Sommer and I swapped the lead several times during the race," Dilback reported. "and there at the end. he was able to get by me when I got behind another. That is racing, though." Larry Thomason moved closer to being pro· moted to the C class, as he scored another win. "I was pleasantly surprised with my condi· tioning today," said Thomason. "I was able to keep a good pace going despite the heat." Craig Williams put his motocross skills to use to claim second. Everyone agreed with Martin's comments that the race was really a lot of fun. The club is going to have access to more than 700 acres for the National in August, so be sure to make it to that one. ,:"",,::ucnauw Tr"UCW5 U5 fmOTOCr"055 ",.,0 nOTional... uueewend Thu"5dow 'liTh - Gate open at 5pm F,,'dow '6Th - Donny Schmit Memorial Race Sign-Up: Bam • 9 am, Practice· Bam, Races - gam 50TU"dow loTh - Open Practice Only Sign-Up: Bam, Ride - Bam, Fee - $20 Women's Pro Motocross, 12 - 2pm Pro Qualifying 3 - 7pm Fireworks Display 10pm 5und~~ ~U15U5T 1STH Pro Practice 9am Qualifying 10:30am, Race 1pm Awards 5:15pm Autographs & Auction 5:30pm Results CIA: I.
