He started third in moto two and was in the lead by the end of lap one_ &oker, on a modified VZB5, puUed out to a 12-second lead on the bigger bikes and took the overall. Finishing second overall was Macon (1-3), followed by Kennedy (3-2). Jason Ballachino, on a YZ250F, went 4-4 for fourth overall. Baker also won the Supermini class, going I-I. He beat hard-charging Kawasaki jockey Ronnie Hunt Jr., who closed to within two seconds in moto two but couldn't catch the swift Baker. Hunt did take the 65cc and Junior Mini divisions. Greg Hudak, on an Andrews Honda/Davidson Construction/MSR/SCS Racing Decals CR250, had a busy day, winning the Heavyweight Pro, Over 25 and Extra classes. Results PfW BEQ; 1. Luke Hmrleln (Han): 2. Also, daughter Savannah finished fourth, behind Mom, in the Women's class. (Younger brother Vince was absent on the day.) The State 8 Motorcycles-sponsored event drew 412 racers, who were finally treated to some great weather - sunny, with temperatures in the 70s. Promoters Carl and Dave Hand kept dust to a minimum by elisking and watering short sections of the track after every third moto. As 36 riders roared over the gate for the first 125cc C moto, Yamaha-mounted Patrick Whiteman pulled out to a three-second lead. Behind him were Jason Lutton, on a YZ250F, and then Christopher Stuckey, Dan Nicoara, Sean Kennedy and Chris Macon, all on Suzukis. With the top two positions set, a battle for third developed between the RM riders. Nicoara crashed out of the top 10. Kennedy and Macon pushed their way past Stuckey. At the start of moto two, Stuckey and Whiteman went side by side through tum one, with Stuckey taking the lead. He held it for only one lap before Whiteman took over. Tim Holloway, who had placed seventh in moto one, was a solid third. Kennedy was fourth, with Lutton behind him. Macon worked up through the pack after a terrible start to finish seventh. Macon got a great jump out of the gate in the first Schoolboy moto. He put his Penton Honda/PR2/Tag/Wiseco/Scott RM 125 out front and was never headed. George Baker III Frame classes. The Open C fmal saw Bystrom out front by a bunch from start to finish. Rick Walker, first-time dirt-tracker Jeremy Phillips, and Keith Nohman followed Bystrom to the finish line. The Vintage Single main event saw Bystrom in the lead the whole time, but Craig Abresh and the Coors Light entry of Bob Reynolds kept him honest throughout the race. Don Boehlke made a last-lap pass on Jon Markuson to nail fourth, with John Conant in tow. Mark Hill won the Stock Frame heat race, but Bystrom was once again in perfect form as he held off Mark's advances to score his third win on the night. Abresh made a last-lap pass on Buzz Arndt to nab third place. Amdt won two races on the night. The first came in the Vintage Twin class, where he assumed the lead on lap three when race leader Abresh dropped his Yamaha in turn one. Arndt then raced to the checkers ahead of the XR750 Harley-Davidson of Ron Leeman, with Rick Walker, Markuson, Frank Radloff and Joe Blackwell in hot pursuit. In the Over 50 final, Amdt scored his second win by besting Leeman and a consistent Reynolds. Gaylord Ladwig finished fourth, ahead of Conant and Blackwell. Results foIINI CIWN: I.
