Despite the electric starter, overall weight is supposed to be less than the '02 WR426F (Yamaha didn't have an exact figure). All of this, including the electric starter, also goes for the WR250F, which like the YZ250F receives a host of weight-cutting changes and a slimmer, flatter layout. The WR450F sells for $6399, and the WR250F sells for $5799. PLAY BIKES With Honda's introduction of its new CRF230F and CRF] 50F, along with Suzuki's popular DR-Z line, Yamaha's popular four-stroke TT-Rs are getting some serious competition in the playbike market this model year. There are basically no changes to the TT-R250 and 225, with the important exception of a drop in price ($400 and $200, respectively). Prices for Yamaha's 2003 fourstroke play-bike line-up are as follows: TT -R250, $4299; TT -R225, $2799; TT-R]25L, $2599; TT-R]25, $2399; and TT-R90, $]699. The twostroke mini PW80 and PW50 go for $1349 and $] ]49, respectively, and the four-stroke dual-sport XT225 and TW200 have prices of $3999 and $3599, respectively. SPORT BIKES We've already ridden and reported on the 2003 early-release FJR1300 sport-tourer (Issue #] 8, May 6), which is the biggest news in the newmodel-year Yamaha sport-bike range, so we'll skip over that bike in this story. Of the other sport machines unveiled at Yamaha's dealer show, none received any mechanical updates for 2003, though the successful FZ] naked bike will be offered in a couple of new colors (including the attractively old-school yellowblack combo shown here). Prices on the '03 Yamaha sport line-up are as follows: FJR1300, $1 ],499 (including bags); FZ], $8499 ($8599 for yellowblack); and YZF600R, $6999.0 CRUISERS Yamaha is proud to have been building cruisers for 25 years (the XS650 Special was the first one), and to celebrate, the company is making a limited-edition (only ] 500 will be produced) Road Star Silverado in a liquidsilver color. The bike also has a chromed front end, whitewall tires, black engine finish, special windshield with silver-edition insignia (the logo also appears on the speedometer and fuel tank), leather fuel-tank panel, studded saddles and double-buckle saddlebags with silver-tipped conchos. The silver-edition Silverado will sell for $] 3,299, and the models in Yamaha's 2003 cruiser line-up have prices from $5599 (for the onyx V Star Custom) to $] 6,899 (for the onyx Royal Star Midnight Venture).
