Memorial Day Classic Lake Whitney Motocross Park Bragging Rights to Bryant, Peesok Bv KAT SPANN AND THE BECKSTER WHITNEY, TX, MAY 25-27 David Bryant Jr. nailed four perfect motos in Saturday's 51cc (7-8) and 51cc Open classes at Lake Whitney Motocross Park's Memorial Day Classic. Sunday was owned by J.J. Peesok, who won five of his six motos to take the overall in the Collegeboy, 125cc Band 250cc B events. Monday featured an (ronman race that had riders on the track for hour-long motos. Between the three days of racing, 439 entered riders opted to race motocross over lounging by the lake or attending back-yard barbecues. Bryant's toughest competition came in the Open class, where he had to battle with Dylan Cooke in the first moto. Bryant gamered the holeshot but lost the lead to Cooke on the first lap when he went down. Cade Moore moved into second, followed by Cole Roemer. Bryant got by both Roemer and Moore on lap two, but it took another lap to reel in Cooke, and he passed him for the lead to take the win. The second moto saw Bryant out front all three laps for the win and the overall. Cooke raced in second for two laps before Moore passed for the number-two spot, followed by Cooke and Roemer. Cooke's 3-2 tally was A and B classes left the gate separately. First off was the A class, led by James Marshall, with Rowdy Flanagan in the chute. Clayton Miller snagged the holeshot among the second gate of B riders, with Tommy Hahn in the runner-up spot. By the end of the first lap, Marshall was being hunted down by Adam Mennenga, while Pecsok got around Miller to pursue Hahn. Marshall led into lap three but fell on the mountain, which gave Mennenga the lead, followed by Shane Doughty and Flanagan, and they continued in that formation to the end of the race. Meanwhile, Hahn was doing all he could to shake off Pecsok, but on lap three Pecsok found a hole and made his move to the front and led the remaining laps to the checkered flag. Miller finished third, followed by Greg Chapman and Justin Warren. Doughty absconded with the holeshot in the second moto, with Mennenga second and Marshall third. Mennenga got around Doughty on the first lap and held the lead all the way. Marshall made his move on Doughty on lap two for seeond and began to distance himself from the field. Doughty held on to third, followed by Flanagan. close but was unable to get close enough to make a pass to regain the lead. Haring stayed in second for two laps before Danny Kelsey took his position. Haring finished fourth. Andrew Clark rounded out fifth on the 24-rider gate. Clark got the holeshot in the second moto, with Kelsey in his wake and both Hahn and Pecsok battling over third. Pecsok took the lead on the first lap, with Clark, Kelsey and Hahn behind him. Pecsok remained at the controls throughout the race to claim the win and the overall, while Kelsey put the goods on Haring on lap two for second and held the position to the checkered flag. Hahn ran into problems and did not finish the second moto. Clark finished third for the same position overall. Ronny Jackson got the holeshot in the first 125cc Schoolboy moto, with Riley Kurosky in second. Kurosky wasted no time getting around Jackson on the first lap and kept the lead to the finish. Jackson held down the number-two spot, followed by Michael Pritchett and Taylor Smith. Kurosky owned the second mota from the holeshot to the checkered flag. Ron Reese III gated second but was passed by Jackson the finish, as Reese held firm to third and Smith fourth.
