Williams & Vigen Racing/RAW Construction/LCS Racing's Nick Williams and Marc Williams finished 15th and 16th, respectively, on their Wood-Rotaxes. Bob & Dick Weirback's Dominic Beaulac (Rot) made a 20-hour drive from Canada.only to fall off in the main and be credited with a last-place finish. Kevin Varnes has taken the points lead in the 505 Expert Hot Shoe as well as the 750/1 000 Hot Shoe. Varnes' 62 points leads Kevin Atherton, Dan Stanley and Chris Carr's 49, with Joe Kopp just behind them on 46. While the Expert main had a more traditional look about it, the Pro-Sport class was very DTX top-heavy. The four heats would only move the top three riders into the main. The first heat saw Rotax-mounted Rob Pearson (Paint n Place/Silkolene) taking the win. The second heat looked like it belonged to Dustin Crow aboard Bryan Bigelow's DTX Honda, but it was not to be as Crow hit the ground in turn one. He was uninjured, but done for the day. Matt Burton took over on his Yamaha and easily took the win. The third heat saw Michigan's Henry Wiles holding off a fast-closing Merle Scherb (Nallin Racing). Both riders were Hondamounted. The last heat was the fastest Pro-Sport heat, with Parents/ Bill's Cycle Shop-backed Wesley Brown pushing his Honda well ahead of the traditional Rotax of Nick Daniels. Daniels got a great holeshot in the Pro-Sport Main, but it was red-flagged when Rob Pearson fell in turn three. Everyone made the restart, but this time it was Brown off the line first. Daniels held second for a couple of laps before Wiles blasted by. Wiles was able to close somewhat on Brown but was never able to make a serious challenge. Daniels filled out the podium as he rode home alone in third. Scherb and Matt Burton battled over fourth, with Scherb winning that spot. Despite not qualifying for the main event, Ohio's Charlie Italia leads the 505 Pro-Sport Hot Shoe points race with 57. Oklahoma's Jerry Cartwright finished sixth and moved into second in the points over Rob Pearson, Wes Brown and Jason Goodwin. eN Peoria lIKe Putl Peoria, Illinois Presents Round 7 AMA I CHEVY TRUCK MOTOCROSS NATIONALS Presented by Dunlop Radial Rover Light Truck Tires, ~ sponsored by _ _ & s6s --- TwinAir
