uss Pearson led the Pearson clan
to a sweep of the top three places
at round two of the AMA Reliability
Enduro Series in the beautiful mountains north of Boise. Riding a
YZ250F, Nick took top honors on
Saturday, followed by brother Russ
and then David. Then Russ wicked it
up on Sunday, taking the day-two win
ahead of cousin David and Nick.
When the two-day overall points were
tallied, it was Russ, David and Nick,
one, two, three. This was Russ' second overall win in Idaho, the other
coming in 2000.
Ironically, Russ was less happy
with his Sunday ride - on which he
came from behind to win - than he
was with his day-one performance. "I
just had a consistent ride on Saturday," Russ said. "I never wrecked, but
1 finished eight seconds behind Nick.
Then, on Sunday, 1 crashed in the
grass track and blew a couple corners; I just didn't feel like I was doing
that good, and I won."
David put together a third on Saturday and a second on Sunday for
second overall, and said, "I had some
good test times on Saturday, but I
got held up in the dust, and that hurt
my time." When asked about the
race and course, David echoed the
sentiments of many riders, saying,
(Top) Russ Pearson led an overall Pearson sweep
of the Idaho City 1 00, round two of the AMA
National Championships Reliability Enduro
Series. If you think there are a lot of racing
Pearsons now, note that those four fresh-faced
children In the background are also all Pearsons.
