finishes after two mediocre starts. And Blimpie/Suzuki's Buddy Antunez rode well all afternoon long to round out the top five with 6-7 moto scores. "I had kind of mediocre starts both races," said Huffman. "I ran into one of the Plano guys in the first race and it knocked me all the way back to 32nd place, so I was pretty stoked to get eighth. I like the track here; it really separates the guys a little more than most tracks. It's tough here, but I've always liked it. And I would like to congratulate Danny Smith - he was definitely on a mission today." "My dad and my brother's fatherin-law came out here to support me," Smith said. "My dad said, eWhile you're here, Danny, you might as well do the very best you can do.' And my trainer Jeff Spencer was putting the brakes on me at first, because this is a track you can get hurt on if you're not ready, but then he said after, 'Just let it go and do whatever comes naturally.' I guess it was just my day. Everyone cheered me on and everyone has been real great to me and my family." Even after his meager Southwick haul of 20 points for a single thirdplace moto finish, Reed remains the series points leader with a total of 145 points. Stewart, with two DNFs in the last three motos, is just five points off the leader, followed by a tie for third at 125 points apiece. Rounding out the top five with 97 points is the mercurial Jesseman, who has climbed back into the hunt after starting the season with a 17-DNF at Glen Helen. eN MX338 Sautbwlck, Mlssachusetts Results: June 9, 2002 (Round 4 of 121 MOTO 1 (30-mlnutes plus two laps): 1.
