"I took a shot in the back there on the landing, so we're going to do some suspension tuning before the next ride," Large said. Templeton, on the Bob and Donna Erskine/Townsend Specialtiesbacked bike, stunned the crowd and the rest of the 800cc class with his first ride of the year. "The bike came out of the hole really hard and 1 had to shut off a little earlier than usual," Templeton explained. "It hit the jump nice and stayed straight on the left side of the hill, and I held it on past the lights." He ran a 3.220, but he paid the price. "I went down once when I went over the hill," Templeton described his crash. "I fell and separated my shoulder, but it popped back in. The bars and levers are bent, and the front axle is bent. We can fix that. But I don't think I could ride again if 1 had too - I can't hang on." Large summed up the thoughts of the 800cc riders before round two, "We're racing for second, I think. That ride Bobby put in was pretty good." Watson tried the left side of the hill and he passed Large with a 3.511second run. Large, aboard his championship-winning bike, also picked up the pace with a 3.448-second run that would hold up for second, but Watson would fall to fifth overall after Chad Disbennett scored a 3.501 on his Bo's Radical Racing/Thor-backed Triumph. Rodney Williams was the last rider of the day, and he hammered the Mike's Welding/Skeeter Williamsbacked Harley up and over the hill in 3.5 seconds to claim third. "We built this bike this winter and it landed really smooth over the double. It worked great," Williams said when he came down from the top. Templeton relaxed after a hard win. "I thought my ride could hold up, especially since the hill started to rut up there. I've had good luck here." eN Zeke Wenger Memoriel Nelionel Middlebury, Indiene Results: Mey 19 BOOce: 1.
