Thor/Parts Unlimited Northeast Classic Motocross Series Round 3: Hurricane Hills Sports Center Veteran ProlEzpert rider Bany Carsten had a spec:tacular day at round three of the ThorlParts Unlimited Northeast Classic Series, winning the 125cc A and 250CC Open A classes as well as the Over 30 A class. passing Cook for third and then Ellis for second, which relegated Ellis to third and Cook to fourth. Wallace was now pressuring Pamart for fifth, and Wallace made the pass by lap four. Veracka was closing the gap on Carsten when misfortune struck. Veracka's front end washed out and he went down, ensuring Carsten of the win. Mills was charging hard after a bad start and he began picking off riders until he ran out of time. Carsten took the checkered flag with a seven-second advantage. Rounding out the top five were Veracka, Mills, Ellis and Wallace. Carsten's perfect 1-1 score obviously earned him the top tier of the 125cc A podium. Mills (2-3) was runner-up, and Ellis (4-3) rounded out the podium. eN STORY AND PHOTOS BY JIM P. SANDERSON CUFFORD, PA, /I\AY5 JD)ossini Racing Product's Ty IR;, Wallace and Bromley Suzuki's Barry Carsten kept the charge on in their pursuit of winning the Thor/Parts Unlimited Northeast Classic Motocross Series. Wallace rode to a 2-1 score in the Over 25 A class, giving him the overall win and second in series points, just behind his fellow RRP teammate Damien Plotts. Wallace is also third in points in the 125cc A class and fifth in the 250cc A class after three of five rounds. The veteran Pro/Expert Carsten from Bayville, New Jersey, who's backed by Trevose, Pennsylvania's Bromley Suzuki dealership, had a spectacular day, winning the 125cc and 250cc Open A classes, as well as the Over 30 A class. Carsten now leads the 125cc A class in series points and is only five points down from the series points leader, Plotts, in the 250cc Open A class. In the Over 30 A class, Carsten leads the class by 12 points with two rounds to go. Round three of this extremely competitive and prestigious series was held at the beautiful Hurricane Hills Sports Center. The event promoter, Tom Hurd Motorsports, did a Wallace by the start of lap two. Dickson passed Boyesen for third. Greg Pamart moved up to claim fifth. The leaders spread out by the third lap and remained unchanged all the way to the checkers. Plotts got the win, with Wallace, Dickson, Boyesen and Pamart trailing. Wallace managed to get the holeshot and the early lead in the final Over 25 A moto. In tow were Plotts, Hopkins, Pamart and Dickson. Plotts went down early in the moto and had his work cut out for him as he tried to work his way back to the front. Wallace had a five-second lead by lap three over Pamart in second. Mother Nature provided a beautiful day, with sun and blue skies and temperatures near 70 degrees mark. More than 500 racers came out to race 25 classes. Plotts launched his big-bore thumper into the lead quickly in the first Over 25 A moto, ahead of Wallace, BoyesenjTwin Air's Dag Boyesen, Gaylon Dickson, Stephen Desiderio and Andretti's Northeast Powersports Mark Hopkins. Plotts put some distance between himself and 56 JUNE 5, 2002' cue • ... fell back to fourth and Dickson was fifth. Wallace took the checkers with a 51/2second lead. Rounding out the top five were Pamart, Boyesen, Dickson and Plotts_ Wallace (2-1) earned the overall, while Boyesen (3-4) took second overalL Rounding out the podium was Plotts (1-5). Carsten got things under way in the 125cc A class when he led the pack out of the first turn ahead of Charles Ellis, Casey Clark, Paul Veracka and Ryan Mills. Carsten quickly pulled out to a five-second lead, while behind him it was anybody's race for second through fifth. Near the end of the second lap, Veracka blasted by n e _ s both Mills and Clark in the downhill rhythm section to secure third. Mills then passed Clark for fourth. Carsten's lead was 6 1/2 seconds by the end of lap three. Mills was charging and he made his way to second, passing Ellis in the big sweeper by the start area, but Ellis came right back and the two ran side by side all the way up the long infield straightaway. Mills just kept it pinned a little longer and made the pass entering the rhythm section. Ellis was relegated to third. Clark was back in fourth, and Jeremy Cook was now fifth. Mills began to chip away at Carsten's lead and reduced it to 2 1/2 seconds before he ran out of time. Carsten won, with Mills, Clark, Ellis and Cook trailing. Ellis got his Suzuki to the front quickly in the final 125cc A moto, ahead of Carsten, Cook, Pamart and Veracka. It took Carsten just about a lap to make the pass on Ellis for the lead. Ellis dropped to second. Cook held third, and Veracka moved up to fourth.
