Georgia-Alabama Championship Series Round 6: Copperhead Motocross Sizemore Snakes Copperhead Wins Bv PAC LEWIS BLAIRSVILLE, GA, APR. 28 opperhead Motocross hosted the sixth round of the highly competitive Georgia-Alabama Championship Series. The track layout is nestled among trees, which provide great shade for the racers during competition. Slight morning showers didn't dampen the spirits of the racers, and after the short rain the sun came out and provided some great track conditions and racing. Some of the best racing of the day was in the 85cc division, which had a great turnout. Matt Bell and Derek Rogers battled it out in both 85cc (7 -11) motos and split moto wins, with Rogers winning the first moto and Bell winning the second and the overall. Josh Scott was third, and in fourth was Pre· Teen-class winner Walker Mayo. In 85cc (9-13) action, Tyler Jugel battled with Josh Burdett. Jugel won the first moto and Burdett placed second, but Burdett battled back to take the win in moto two and get the overall. Jugel took second, with Bell and C Scott taking third and fourth, respectively. Jugel came back to sweep the 85cc (12-15) class; second in both motos was Gregory Roberts, with Burdett third and Chad Handrop fourth. The Supermini contest featured some awesome racing, with Roberts and Handrop battling all through both motos. Handrop got the win in moto one, with Roberts in second. At the start of moto two, Handrop was in front, with Burdett in second and Roberts in third. In an aggressive move in a sweeper turn, Roberts went deep inside and got by Burdett and pulled alongside Handrop. Having the good line in the next corner, Roberts got the lead and never looked back, taking the moto win and the overall, with Handrop second and Burdett third. The 125cc A class witnessed Cody Watford's return after a seven-month absence from the racing scene due to a horrific crash during practice last September. This was only his third time back on a motorcycle, and Watford's friends and family were cheering as he left the starting gate for r---------------------------------------,cn ~ ~ ~ ~ moto one. Michael Sizemore grabbed the holeshot and never looked back to take the moto win, with Michael Graham second and Watford third. Watford got the holeshot in moto two, but Sizemore got by after Watford went to the outside in the next turn. Graham and Watford battled all moto long, passing each other several times, but at the checkers it was Graham in second, with Watford right on his rear fender for third. The 250cc A was another Sizemore sweep, with Ross Johnson and Graham battling for second, which the KTM 520-mounted Johnson got both times. Graham took third, with Shane McElwaney in fourth and Chad Anderson in fifth. The first 125cc B moto was a runaway for Steven Cochran, but moto two was another story, as Dwane Mitchell put his YZ250F out front early and never looked back. Cochran charged all moto long but fell just short of the checkers and had to settle for second overall, with Mitchell winning the first-place trophy. However, the 250cc B class was Cochran's, as he set the Husqvarna on the top step of the podium with both moto wins, followed by Jack Brooks in second and Kevin Yerby in third. The 125cc C class featured another great showing for Auston Albers, who went 1-1 to add to his points lead. Second place went to Gavin Kidd, with Keith Davidson in third. Albers had another good outing in the Youth (12-15) class, again sweeping both motos. Davidson took second, followed closely by Brett Dyer in third. The 50cc Shaft riders put on a great show at Copperhead, with Kyle Russell leading the class to the checkers. Jordan Quarles had his best ride of the year as he finished second, with Landon Gentry in third. Jake Capizzi got fourth, and Hudson Graham finished out the top five. Eduardo Cordoba continued his winning ways in 50cc (4-6) competition, with Shaft-class winner Russell in second. L.S. Goe took third, with Quarles in fourth. Hudson Graham again grabbed the fifth-place spot. The 250cc C contest was a great ride for Kyle Odom, as he took the overall with 2- 1 moto scores. Mike Porter took second. just ahead of Pete Fite in third. eN Copperhead Mota.ross Blairsville, &eorgia Results: April ZB, ZOOZ (Round 6J 50 SHAFT: I. Kyle Russell (Yem); 2, Jordan QUllrles (Yam); 3.
