Motorcycle Raceway: Robbie Reynard returned to racing at round six of the Oklahoma State Championship Series in Midwest City and reigned in the 125cc and 250cc Pro classes. trained hard to be in his best shape for the outdoor season. In the 125cc Expert class, the Honda-mounted Reynard got the holeshot in moto one. Staying on his back fender was none other than KTM pilot Guy Cooper, who hounded Reynard mercilessly for a couple of laps. After three or four laps, Reynard started pulling away from "Coop," though Coop stayed in front of Johnny Marley, who had come from behind on his Yamaha. Battling for fourth place were Keith Cooper and Chad Cook, both on Yamahas, with Cook coming out on top. In moto two, Reynard again absconded with the holeshot, but his bike swapped on him in the first turn and Marley took over the lead, with Coop right behind him. By lap three, Reynard was all over Coop, and he made the pass in the rhythm section along the back fence. In hot pursuit of Marley, Reynard made the pass, tak- ing away Marley's line and his front wheel in the sweeper in the middle of the track. Marley had trouble getting back under way after another bike drilled him as he was trying to restart his bike. Reynard crossed the finish line in first, with Coop second, Cook third, Keith Cooper fourth and David Casada in fifth on his Yamaha. Guy Cooper came back with a vengeance a few classes later in the Over 25 Expert class, dominating both motos. Coop got the first-moto holeshot and never looked back. The race to watch was behind him, as KTM rider Jason Owens and Yamaha riders Cody Anderson and David Casada battled it out for second place. By the second lap, another Yamaha rider was also mixing it up, this one with Andy Anderson on board. Casada worked his way into second, while Andy stole third. Cody settled for fourth, and Owens fell all the way back to fifth. Coop overshot the first turn in moto two, handing the holeshot honors to Owens, but Coop quickly moved into the lead and ran away. Casada made the pass for second on Owens as they passed the finish line on lap three. One lap later, Andy made the same pass at the same spot on Owens and took over third. Owens managed to hang on to fourth until the checkers came out. Cody Anderson was fifth. Honda rider John Wolf nailed the holeshot in moto one of the Over 25 Amateur class. Kawasaki jockey Greg Ingels and Yamaha-mounted Brennen McKellar were banging bars and battling for second, with McKellar coming out on top and proceeding to go after Wolf. After showing him a wheel at every turn, McKellar finally made the pass in the back corner on the white-flag lap. Wolf was relegated to second, with Ingels in third. Billy Owen came from the back of the pack to finish fourth on his Honda, followed by another Honda rider, Randy Fowler. Ingels grabbed the holeshot in moto two and never looked back. McKellar gave him some pressure but couldn't get around him. Owen held off Wolf, who was trying every trick in the book to get around him into third, but Wolf still finished fourth, ahead of Fowler. In the 250cc Novice contest, Kyle McCoy put his Yamaha out front at the start of both motos but crashed in both motos and finished 13th and 11th for the day. Shelby Hart and Jason Brazeal, both on Yamahas, battled until Brazeal made the pass for first in the last half of the last lap of moto one. Behind Hart, finishing in third, was Yamaha rider Caleb Carpenter, followed by Suzuki jockey Cory Norton and Yamaha-mounted Cterling Snow. The finish of moto two looked similar, with Brazeal in first, followed by Hart. Norton had a better moto, finishing third, and Jerry Casner also had a better moto, putting his Yama- ha into fourth after finishing sixth in moto one. Rounding out the top five was Josh Brown, on a Kawasaki. eN Moton:ycle Race.IY Midwest City, OJdahDJ1lII Results: April Z8, ZOOZ [Round 61 50 (4·6): 1. Travis Hirt (Cob); 2. C.J. Collins (Pol); 3. AMA District 14 Michigan Hare Scrambles Series Round 1: Portland Trail Riders Parlin's Patience Prevails at Portland Bv MARK SPORE PORTLAND,~,APR.28 M oosel Portland Trail Riders: KTM-mounted Corey Parlin rode a smart race to earn the overall victory at the opening round of the Michigan Hare Scrambles Series in Portland, Michigan. 50 MAY 29, 2002' cue • • n _ _ so Alpinestars/Klotz-sponsored Corey Parlin started off the Michigan Hare Scrambles Series the way that he had hoped: by winning the opening round in Portland, Michigan. Despite Mother Nature unloading her "spring showers" prior to and during the event, Parlin remained patient during the early laps and then pushed his KTM to the front, winning the shortened event with more than two minutes to spare. Due to the muddy conditions, it was decided that the race would be shortened from the normal length of three hours to two, in hopes that the track would hold up to the pounding
