AMAlChevy Trucks U.S. MX Championship Series Round 1: Glen Helen Raceway Roncada rode well in the second moto, too, starting off in sixth and then holding fifth for much of the race, until his teammate Ezra Lusk, who no doubt was well aware of Roncada's health situation, went after him late in the moto and passed him on the last lap, dropping Roncada to sixth. "I just tried to hang in there and finish," Roncada said. Lusk, who admitted afterward that he just didn't have it today, ended up sixth overall with a 7-5 tally. Moto XXX/Yoshimura's Kyle Lewis (5-8), KTM/Cernics.com/PC Worldwide/Boston Celtics' John Dowd (8- 7), White Bros. Honda's Paul Carpenter (10-11) and Dowd's teammate Keith S. Johnson (12-13) rounded out the top 10 overall. But Carmichael was the man of the hour, and he was glad to be the one to get the first win of the series. "It's important to win the first race and the first two motos," Carmichael said. "But it's a long season. We go all over the country, there's 24 motos, and a lot of stuff can happen. This being the first race, winning is good, but it doesn't matter how many races I win - I'm going for the title. I have to look at the big picture. Today was perfect." CN Roy; 10. Reynard; 11. By STEVE PHOTOS BY STEVE BRUHN SAN BERNARDINO, CA, MAY 12 ven though there are as many as 25 factory-supported 125cc riders competing for this year's title, many pit pundits had deemed this series a four-horse race since before the supercross series had even ended.
