Well, if you're like me and have recently spent a large chunk of change on a new trUCk, you are probably a bit overprotective of your ride. Just ask my fiancee, who gets hollered at if she slams the door harder than I deem necessary. One thing that was slowly starting to become a problem was that the aforementioned front bedrail was starting to bow slightly from hauling bikes around. The street bikes are worse than the dIrt bikes, because they are heaVler and need to be tied down tighter, but after time the dirty versions are just as bad. After seeing a couple of these contraptions in use, I started looking for a version on the market. After searching the Internet, I found the company CCR Sport, and their product the Bed Buddy. They were kind enough to send over their CCR003 Bed Buddy, which is thel! newest offering for midsized trucks like my 2001 Toyota Tundra, or for the Dodge Dakota. The Bed Buddy is available In three versions: the CCR001 for fulIsized truck beds, which retails for S149.95; the CCR002 for mini-truck applications, which retails for S139.95; and the CCR003 for mid-sized trucks, which retails for S149.95. The CCR001 and CCR003 both feature three tire slots, while the CCR002 features two. All three versions feature three heavy-duty tie-down loops with one on each side and one centrally located top loop. Because I'm anally retentive, I took my Bed Buddy straight to Llne-X and had it sprayed with the same black coating that the bed of my truck is sprayed with. Not only does it match my truck's bed perfectly, it won't chip and then rust where the powder coating inevitably gets worn off. Now it was time for instailation. I was warned by Chris from CCR Sport that instailation in a Tundra was difficult due to the extremely tight clearance between the cab and the bed. He wasn't joking I I was extra careful about drilling the holes because I didn't want the thing to be crooked. The hard part was getting the nuts on the back of the bolts. I ended up bending in the top of the back of the bed rail a little to make more clearance for my fingers, and also to make room to get an open-ended wrench In, to tighten the nuts. Lets just say it wasn't a 20-minute job, but I can't begin to tell you how happy I am with the product and it's functionality.
