things to now a relaxed and responsible adult living the dream. How did that change all come about? Well, I was headed down the wrong path for a long time. I was just hanging out with friends and partying and having a good time and then, one night after a party, I was just kind of kicking back at my house and I said, 'Man, I want to do something with myself. I want something to show for if I ever did have a wife or kids.' I wanted to tell them about something I have done instead of just screwing around all of the time. I prayed to God. I wanted a house, a family, kids, cars, the whole bit. You know, it took about two years from when I said that until now, and everything that I have now is what I've asked for. It is this huge, big step that I took. I've been saved with Brian O'Rourke at chapel service last year. From there, he was helping me from week to week and I talk to him sometimes during the week. He's helped me a lot. Tell us about your wife. I met my wife Holly at an Arenacross. It was the final round in Reno in 2000. She has been the best thing that has ever happened to me. We dated for a while and then she moved down to Texas and straightened me out. We always had a fun time and decided to get married, and we got married last year in April and had a little baby girl [Sutton AverYl in January this year. I also have a son, Devon Jeffery with a different girl, Tammy. What is next on your list of goals? What do you want to accomplish next? What is your absolute dream? Hmmm. [Long pause] I guess it would be to be a good father. Racing and stuff is real important to me, like winning championships. I want to continue on with my racing career. I'd like to win a supercross championship and an outdoor championship, too, but my main goal is to be a good father and be able to support my family. I want to make sure things are going well there and then racing will go after that. Who do you want to thank? I want to thank God, first off. I'd also like to thank all the guys at Yamaha and Shogun Motorsports, my mechanic Jack Yost, Motion Cyclesports, Thor, Pro Circuit, HJC, Oakley, Motul, Dunlop, Pro X, Renthal, Factory Effex, Heelside Snowboards, Korupt Klothing, Hoffman Bicycles and Lake Geneva Tattoo. Congratulations again. I'm very happy for you. Thanks. I finally did it. CN cue' • n • _ lIS • MAY 15, 2002 43
