move up into second place. Dickson contin- ued his forward momentum, overtaking Neary for the top spot at the 15-minute mark of the LOCAL TALENT 45-minute race. The next 30 minutes were 011 Dickson's, as he easily distanced himself from the other Novices while picking off most of the faster Intermediates as well prior to the checkers coming out. Neary held on to claim the second·place trophy. over Bikowski. At one point. early leader Hooker dropped all the way to seventh place. only to get a second wind and put on a charge toward the end to finish in fourth, ahead of Nick Santana and O·Carroli. Dickson would also walk off with the victory in the Junior Vet Novice class. Dino Catuongo was runner-up after 45 minutes, with Bikowski also returning for a third-place performance. Hooker finished fourth. with Brad Pietro round· ing out the top five. Steve Mciver's win in the Vet Beginner rtmks was similar to Dickson's in the Vet Novices, in that he had to overcome a mediocre start. Shaun Hanson led the first 20 minutes of the Gran Prix before being dropped a position by Mark Ohlgren. However, Ohlgren' s reign was short-lived, as Mciver put his YZF out front a lap later, and he stayed there until the finish.
