The Lundy/Sims debate was particularly close in the final Over 40 moto, in which the duo swapped the lead back and forth several times. Lundy eventually won all four motos by slim margins ahead of Sims. Clint Shealy, also of Florida, looked unbeatable in both the 125cc and 250cc A divisions aboard his Capitol Cycle/Moto Max/DKR-backed Suzukis. Meanwhile, Ashley Epps and Brian Raymond wrestled over the second-place cash in the 250cc contest. They were wheel to wheel in the final two laps of the final moto, but Epps held the advantage in a near BY GARY CRIDER WASHINGTON, GA, APR. 7 F lorida's lack Lundy 5et a blistering pace at Aonia Pass MX, site of round four of the GPG/AMA Best of Georgia MX Series, and, by the end of the day, the Honda of Houstonbacked rider had accumulated a string of six "ones" on his scorecard, winning the 125cc and 250cc B divisions as well as the Unlimited (16-24) class. Meanwhile, lack's dad, John Lundy, took hard-fought victories in the Over 35 and Over 40 divisions. More than 320 entrants, representing six states, turned out for the event. Track and weather conditions were excellent. Factory Connection/Troy Lee Designs/Bill's Pipes/Scott-backed lack Lundy made his moto wins look easy, but Extreme Cycles' D.C. Thomason kept the pressure on Lundy in all three classes. Aboard a Cannondale in the Unlimited class and riding KTMs in the 125vv and 250cc B divisions, Thomason claimed the runner-up slot each time. photo finish, netting a 2-2 score over Raymond's pair of thirds. Raymond returned to win the Over 25 class, and Epps did likewise in the Over 30 division. The 50cc Shaft-Drive class provided plenty of excitement when the opening moto turned into a threeway, lead-swapping brawl. Coleman Martin grabbed the holeshot, but Max Tannenbaum and Kyle Clark soon moved up and took tums at the point position. Tannenbaum was first at the flag, ahead of Martin and Clark. Clark won the final moto, but he had to settle for the silver, while Tannenbaum's 1-2 tally earned the gold. Martin scored 2-3 for third. Clark retumed to win the 50cc (4-6) class after sharing moto wins with runner-up Nick Gaines. Nick's brother Caleb Gaines won the BOcc (7-11) division with a perfect score aboard his Kirk's Cycles-backed Yamaha. Meanwhile, Gainesville Motorsport's Josh Scott was a close second in both motos. South Carolina's Aryton Dunkel carved out tough overall wins in both the BOcc (9-13) and BOcc (12-15) divisions. Benjamin Hamilton was the runner-up in both classes in a points tie (both times) over Tyler Jugel. A broken chain kept Capitol Cycles' Brent Carden from finishing in the first BOcc (12-15) moto, but he stormed back in the Supermini class and won both motos ahead of Millennium Cycles-backed Nathan Martin. Glenn Garner looked strong in the fierce 125cc C contest, and he came away with the winning 2-1 score after holding off a winner-take-all challenge from Blake Spel.Zano on the last lap of the final moto. If Spezzano had managed to take that moto win ahead of Garner, the result would have been a three-way points tie, with Spezzano on top. As it turned out, however, Garner took the gold and Randy Jarvis was second via his 1-3 tally, over Spezzano's 3-2 score. eN Aonls Psu Motarpl•• Wsshlngtlln, &eorgls Results: April 7. 2002 (Round 41 50 SHAFT; 1.
