Quinn got on the gas and came right back a couple of turns later to retake fourth place, relegating Kunitz to fifth. Mertens finished the second moto with another huge lead - 15 seconds. Rounding out the top five were Hunter, Pereira, Quinn and Kunitz. In the 85cc (12-13) class, Chad Dunning of Wyoming, New York, smoked the field. Dunning finished with more than 10-second leads in both motos. Chris Cheney's 3-2 rides earned him second overall, and Joey Keefe (2-3) rounded out the podium. Dunning piloted his KX to the front of the pack quickly in the first moto. Trailing him were James Izzo, Joey Keefe, John Ryerson and Chris Cheney. Dunning steadily pulled away and had a five-second lead by the start of lap two. Keefe moved up to second, Cheney was third, Izzo dropped to fourth and Ryerson was relegated to fifth. By the following lap, Dunning had doubled his lead to 10 seconds, with the remaining top four spreading out and remaining unchanged to the checkered flag. The moto officially finished as Dinning, Keefe, Cheney, Izzo and Ryerson. Dunning made his start in the second moto a repeat of the first by nailing yet another holeshot. Trailing him were Keefe, Cheney, lzzo and Jeremiah Glezen. The start of the second moto was almost identical to that of the first. After 2 1/2 laps had been completed, Dunning was still out front and pulling away, while behind him Cheney passed Keefe for second, relegating Keefe to third. Izzo was holding on to fourth, and Robert Reynolds passed Glezen to claim fifth. Dunning finished the moto with an 11 -second advantage, followed by Cheney, Keefe, lzzo and Reynolds.
