Moroso Motorsports Parte Shane Prieto won five of seven events entered at the CCS event in West Palm Beach, Florida. "It's been a while since I've been up here" Weber commented. "I got a good start and then Shane came by and I just tried to stick with him as long as I could before he started slipping away. And then I looked back and there was Johno, so I said, 'All right, I've got to step it up.'" "I was just being consistent," Bowman remarked. "I got a good start and was trying to catch Damian. We were riding together in practice and he stepped it up today. But I threw it away in the chicane and had to settle for third." Weber also finished third in the GTO. On the podium, the unsponsored Weber thanked his friend Chet for getting hjm back into racing. He also thanked hjs wife, Patti. "It was just a silly mistake - going a little too tight into that turn, and I just hit the edge of the grass and concrete at the same time. And that doesn't work there." There were a few multiple winners in the Amateur field as well. Justyn Bradley won two events but made the podium for all four of his races. He finished first in Mjddleweight Superbike and Middleweight Grand Prix, second in Middleweight Supersport, and third in GTU. 54 APRIL 24, 2002' cue I e Ralph Fernandez won all three of his events - GTO, Unlimited Supersport, and Heavyweight Supersport. AMi Disbicts &and 7Points Race and Pre-Northeast Classic Wann-Up Doublin Gap Motocross Pal'll Clark, Morrison Dazzle at Doublin By JIM P. SANDERSON NEWBURG,PA,MAR.23 M ore than 350 motocross enthusiasts came out to Doublin Gap Motocross Park for a Saturday race that featured 25 classes, which made for a full day of racing on the long, fast, technical course. The race was only the second of the new season for this excellent facility. This event was also a warm-up race for round one of the 2002 Thor Parts Unlimited Northeast Classic Motocross Series, which was to be held the following day. Bright sunshine, cool temperatures n __ s and lots of wind is what Mother Nature dished out for the day. Track conditions were excellent, as there hadn't been a lot of rain in the southern part of Pennsylvania recently; in fact, some counties in the state have declared drought conditions. Casey Clark, a local Pro/Expert from Pine Grove, Pennsylvania, topped both the 125cc and 250cc Open A podiums for a tidy portion of the Expert purse. Clark rode to a 1-2 score for the overall in the 125cc class and rode to a perfect 1-1 score for top honors in the 250cc Open A class. Jacob Morrison of Wareham, Massachusetts, topped the 125cc B class and also the highly competitive Schoolboy class. Morrison had two perfect motos in the extremely fast 125cc B class, riding to a 1-1 tally for the top honors. Morrison had to work a little harder for the overall win in the Schoolboy class, though, scoring a 1-2 punch for the overall win. Nick Mowry, the 2001 Northeast Classic 250cc B-c1ass series winner, has moved up to the Expert ranks for the 2002 season. He nailed the holeshot aboard his Honda and led the pack out of the first turn in the first 250cc Open A moto, tra i1ed by Clark. and Mjke Veracka. Shortly into the moto, Veracka had some bad luck when he lost the front end and went down in the third turn, remounting dead last. With half a lap completed, Clark was now leading, followed by Mowry, Chris Hunter, Joe Robertson and Robert Cecil. Clark had a seven-second lead after 2 1/2 laps and was still pulling away when Hunter managed to pass Mowry for second. Robertson and Cecil were still holding down fourth and fifth, respectively. Clark increased his lead to nine seconds by the last lap. Hunter and Mowry were still second and third, while Chris Welsh worked his way into the top five, taking fourth. Behind Welsh, there was a battle brewing between Cecil and Veracka for fifth place. Veracka had managed to come all the way back to sixth after going down in the third turn on lap one. Clark took the checkers and the first-moto win easily. Rounding out the top five were Hunter, Mowry, Veracka and Welsh. Hot off his first-moto win, Clark nailed the holes hot in the second moto and quickly began to pull away once again. In tow were Mowry, Veracka, Welsh and Mike Morgan. Clark once again had a seven-second lead by the start of lap two. Mowry and Veracka waged a heated battle for second and third; Veracka finally made the pass for second on the aggressive Mowry. Welsh was still fourth, and Robertson was now fifth. Clark firushed the second moto with an eight-second advantage. Rounding out the top five were Veracka, Mowry, Welsh and Hunter. Clark's perfect 1-1 rides gave him the top spot on the 250cc Open A podjum. Veracka earned the runnerup spot with his 4-2 score, and Mowry's consistent 3-3 rides earned him the remaining spot on the podium. Zack Feaster led the pack out of the fast, right- hand first turn in the first 125cc B moto, with Morrison, Jason Doyle, Robert Shuckhart and Benjamin Bixler trailing. Morrison quickly passed Feaster to take the point position, dropping Feaster to
