MCARTHUR, OH, MAR. 17
Despite the greasy conditions at the third
round of the District II Suzuki Spring Series,
Suzuki-mounted Keith Maraugha went
marauding and plundered the Over 40 class
for bragging rights at this rolling circuit deep
in southem Ohio's back country.
Early-season races in District 11 are
aiways sketchy; you never know if you'll have
balmy conditions or sleet. This year,
McArthur's track got all gooey, and the going
was somewhat slowed, although a large
turnout lind Suzuki contingency money made
for some exciting racing. Vet racers often
enjoy this circuit, laid out on the side of a hill
next to the McArthur fairgrounds; the mostiy
natural terrain and limited obstacles suit their
preferences. Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania's
Maraugha made the long haul from the Keystone State and whipped up on the Over 40class riders, thrashing his RM250 around the
slippery layout with precise navigation.
Piloting his Cycle Specialties· backed
Suzukis in the Money classes was Hamilton
native Brad Strunk. The 25-year-old racer and
arenacross expert displayed remarkable speed
as he rode to overall victories in the Over 25
A, 125cc and 250cc Pro classes.
In the Over 30 A division, Marietta native
Mike Blair roosted away from early favorite
Mike Morgan and local fast guys Matt Powers
and Dallas Avery for the win.
Matt Cottrill of Chillicothe had a fine day,
taking wins in two different 85cc classes - the

Derek "Diesel" Stinson stormed his Cobra
home first among the feisty 50cc (4-6) group
of racers, while Circleville's Blake Hoffman
rode off with the 50cc (7-8) division.
Former hares .scrambles racer Drew Eggleston tore off with the 250cc C-c1ass overall,
whisking his KTM 200 in for another win in the
slimy conditions.
