Newly rejuvenated Phil Lawrence won Friday's 250Cc main. Ellpect to see him compete full-time in the series next year. Lange and Demuth actually tied on points for the Dash For Cash championship, but his DFC win on Friday broke the tie and gave the championship to Lange. leading every lap of the race, while Gracyk, who ran as high as second after Holland's untimely bail-off, lost the position to Lange on lap six. Lange's brilliant charge to the front of the pack after his opening-lap woes was good enough to earn the rider from Courtenay, British Columbia, the second-place laurels, while Demuth, who had originally gotten off the line in ninth, from a distance, followed Lange through the field. Demuth, who was plagued by poor starts all evening, separated Gracyk and Hagseth on lap 15, but Demuth would get no further, as Gracyk's solid performance - his best of the season - netted the rider from Blissfield, Ohio, the final spot on the rostrum. Demuth was a wheel away from a podium position, nabbing fourth, followed by Hagseth, Holland, KTM's Smail, Jeromy Buehl, Willoh and one of the two Rookie of the Year contenders, Justin Brayton (the other was Gracyk), who filled the top 10. The fast-starting Blair powered ahead of the six-rider Dash For Cash, but both Lange and Stephensen sent Blair back a couple of positions in a battle for over $650 in the crowd-funded event. Lange held the point position to the finish to post a win ahead of Stephenson, Lawrence, Oregon's Ryan Huffman, Blair and Holland. Mike "Superman" Mason dominated the Extreme Freestyle portion, ahead of Blair, Tom Kelley and Demian Villar. SATURDAY Demuth came back on Saturday with a vengeance, winning both of his heat races, and was in contention for the top position on the podium after trailing Hagseth into turn one at the unleashing of the 125cc Pro main; Stephenson, Lawrence, Kelley and Lange held the top positions behind the lead duo. Demuth's aggressive move shortly into the first lap left the crowd-favorite Hagseth in second, but one lap later, Hagseth would be bumped back another spot by Lawrence. Kelley early on got around Stephenson to settle into fourth, but Kelley's stranglehold on the position went nearry as quickly as it came, as Lange dashed past the Suzuki rider to settle into third a lap later. Lange moved up on Hagseth, then got a bit of a break when teammates Lawrence and Hagseth tangled midway through the final, while competing for the same line in the well-rutted whoop section. This allowed Lange to nab the number-three spot behind Demuth and Stephenson. Stephenson had run consistently in the top five for much of the early stages until he bailed off in the whoop section, and Kelley was right back in the hunt. Demuth had pretty much checked out on the competition, as he built up a large lead in a race in which he'd hold the point position every lap. With Hagseth, Lawrence and Stephenson all having their share of troubles in the gnarly whoops, Kelley found himself in a position in which he'd never been before while contesting the full series - to stand among the rostrum finishers - although Hagseth applied pressure to the Fly /Wiseco/Pirelli-supported Kelley after getting around Tuf/Thor Honda's Jeromy Buehl. That was as far as Hagseth would get, though, as Kelley's spirited performance earned him his career-best finish. Hagseth and Buehl, whose fifth-place finish was his weekend's best, filled the top five ahead of Smail, Holland, Oregon's Ryan Terlecki, Willoh and Brayton, who completed the top 10. best finish. Smail, Holland, Brayton, Canada's Dusty Klatt and Willoh, who edged Holland for fourth place in the series standings, finished sixth through 10th. Rusty Holland scored a win in the Dash for Cash to net over $750, but got a bit of a break when Lange and Huffman collided, sending both off the track. While Lange got rolling again quickly, both Holland and Demuth got by him. Lange had originally thought his chances for the DFC title were slim, at best, but he and Demuth were tied at the end of the evening, and Lange's Friday-night DFC win was the deciding factor. Mike Mason was the winner of the Extreme Jump-Off series title. CN The final main event of the season was much the same as it has been throughout the later stages of the series, as the Tuf/Thor/Maxxisbacked Lange led every lap of the 250cc Pro final. Oregon's Huffman, who had been a strong performer during qualifying both nights, grabbed the lead at the start of the 15-lap, 16-rider final, but the Yamaha rider's lead would be a brief one. Lange was the first to drop the former factory rider back a spot, then Hagseth sent Huffman into third, although only momentarily. Huffman's fine ride came to an end when, in an attempt to take the number-two spot back from Hagseth, he slammed into the hay bales and was done for the night. This allowed Lawrence to move into the position vacated by the Oregonian for the next seven laps. That was only until Demuth came knockin', though. Demuth, who initially started off mired at the tail end of the field in 14th, picked off several riders each lap, and by lap 10 had closed in on Lawrence, after eventually getting around Roseburg Cycle Center/Sinisalo-backed Terlecki. Lange's lead grew each lap, and late in the race held the weekend's largest advantage, with Hagseth alone in second, which would stick to the completion. Lawrence got out of shape with three laps left, and that's all Demuth needed to snare the final rung on the podium after his forward forge, with Lawrence finishing slightly ahead of the likewise impressive Terlecki, who with his fifth place earned his career- Tecom.Dame Teco-.
