STORY AND PHOTOS BY RAYMOND GUNDY ROSEMONT, IL, FEB. 15-16 he 10th round of the IFMA FMX Series visited the All-State Arena in Rosemont, Illinois, and Kenny Bartram and Nate Adams came away with the big wins. Bartram started the weekend off with a sweep of Friday's qualification and main-event competitions, while Adams mirrored Bartram's performance on Saturday, winning the two separate main-event rounds that were held that day - one event in the afternoon and one in the evening. All told, there were three separate competitions over the weekend. "My weekend was good," Bartram said. "Friday night, I won the qualifier, so I thought everyone would step it up in the main. Dustin Miller did - he had an awesome run, and I thought he had it - but somehow the judges gave it to me." "This weekend, I did my first Kiss of Death in competition. I wasn't going to, because I still don't think they're quite contest-ready, but we were getting in 18 tricks instead of 16, like normal, so I added a Cat Nac Indy and a Kiss of Death." Saturday was all Adams. "My Saturday went great," Adams said. "I felt really good all day long and when I was doing my runs, I just felt like I was flowing and everything was working right. I was just in a good state of mind." "On Saturday, I did a couple of tricks, two No-Hander Landers, and I think that is what put me in first in both contests on Saturday," Adams added. "I did a Rock Solid to a NoHander Lander without a Bar Check, just like I did at the Winter X. That was my first trick of my main-event run that got me in a groove for the rest of my run, where I did a McMetz to a No-Hander Lander and a Seran to Seran to a One-Handed Lander. That was pretty much it; I just kept my run as smooth as possible and tried to ride without any mistakes." CN (Above) Drake McElroy was consistent, finishing third three times.
