, National Arenacross Series, Presented by Speed Stick Rounds 17-18: Sky Dome Darcy Lange (7) and Josh Demuth (4) each won two main events in Toronto. Lange won both 250cc mains, while Demuth dominated the 1255. STORY AND PHOTOS RAYMOND GUNDY ning both times on his Shogun Motor Sports/Thor/Pro Circuit/HJC Yamaha YZ250F. In the 250cc, Demuth suffered a case of crash-itis. "My weekend went pretty well in the 125 main both nights, but in the 250 mains I had some tough luck," Demuth said. "I am glad to just make it through the weekend. "[On Friday], I pulled the holeshot in the 125cc main and led it the whole way," Demuth said. "In the 250cc main [Friday], I was in fifth and was going through the whoops and went over the end of the bike. I ended up going down after that, but I was able to work my way to 13th. In the 125cc main, Saturday, I got a great start, and was able to put pressure on Darcy the whole race. With a few laps to go, I was able to pass him and take the win. During the 250cc main, Tommy [Hofmaster] and me went down in the first turn and were able to get up, and then I went down again in the same turn. I put a charge on in the end to get to second. I cracked a rib in practice Friday, but I am feeling okay. I am just looking forward to next weekend." Overall, Tuf Racing/Thor/Kawasaki Team Green/Richmond/Gowland rider Lange had a great weekend in his homeland, taking both 250cc main wins and a second in the 125s on Saturday. He was also able to pull off a Dash For Cash win on Saturday, too. "The weekend went pretty good," Lange said. "Friday, during the 125cc main, I went down a few times, but in the 250cc main, I was able to take the win. Saturday, I was able to come back and get a second in the 125cc main and first in the 250cc main. Also, I pulled off the Dash for Cash win, too. I am pumped with what I got this weekend, and I was able to move up into second place in the overall points, too. I am happy. It is great to be up there and challenge Josh for the title now. It was great to be able to do great in front of all my fans." By TORONTO, CAN, FEB. 1-2 nosh Demuth and Darcy Lange each other step for step at the Toronto Arenacross. Demuth started the weekend off with a win in the 125cc Expert main, while Lange came back in the 250cc main to take the win. The following night, Demuth again got things started with a victory in the 125cc main, while Lange again matched Demuth with a first-place showing in the 250cc main. But this weekend really belonged to the Canadian, Lange. Not only did Lange win both 250cc main events, he also had some success in the 125cc mains (l0-2), won a Dash For Cash race, and gained a big chunk of points on the series leader, Demuth. Lange came into the Toronto round 80 points behind Demuth, but managed to shave off 20 of those points while moving into second place in the standings (overtaking the injured Damon Bradshaw, who suffered a broken leg at the previous round and will be forced to sit out the rest of the series). All told, Lange made the podium three out of four times. Demuth, on the other hand, was unstoppable in the 125cc class, win- r:!J matched 26 FEBRUARY 20, 2002' cue Demuth leads the series championship by 67 points just past the halfway point. • _ n __ s
