liked the gold medal, but I am happy
and pumped for Deegan and Clowers.
We were the three old-school guys in
the sport. A lot of the upcoming riders would like to beat us, so it was
great to see all of us up on the podium today.
"My trick was a Double Nac to
Indy Air to sidesaddle. I have never
landed sidesaddle in my whole life. It
was big air and Mad Mike had to go
out there and pull off all the stops. I
am still sore, and the doctor didn't
want me back yet. He still wanted me
off the bike for another two weeks.
But I want to come here and defend
my title. But I came up short for
another gold, but I got the silver."
Taking the bronze, and the last
spot on the podium, was Tommy
Clowers, after he gave a great combo
jump for his third and last jump of the
day. Clowers knocked Nate Adams off
the podium. Both Adams and Clowers
did the Rock Solid, but it wasn't
enough to beat Jones or Deegan.
Afterward, Clowers said: "It went
pretty good today, even after I got a
flat in practice. In the end, it worked
out pretty good. I did all my tricks as
smooth and as big as I could do
them. My last trick was a Catwalk
Indy Air. It is like a Double Nac to
Indy Air. I can get my legs pretty high
on it."
Rounding out the top five was
Adams and Clifford Adoptante, taking
fourth and fifth, respectively. In the
end, the Rock Solid and the NoHanded Catwalk wasn't enough for
medals this year.
"The weekend was pretty cool"
Adams said. I got fourth and I was
happy with that. This was my first
Winter X Games, so it was nice. I
wasn't shocked to see the three oldschool guys up there on the podium they are great riders. I did the Rock
Solid to a No-Handed Land. I think I
got a good score for it. A lot of the
people said you would have to do a
No-Handed Land to get a great score,
or something new. The jumping on
the snow wasn't that different from
jumping on the dirt."
In other news, 12 riders showed
up, but after Dan Pastor got hurt in
practic:;e Thursday, and Kris Rourke
damaged his bike, 10 riders competed in the final.
Rumors started Thursday about
Kris Rourke attempting to do a backflip, since a side ramp was put in for
him for the attempt. But in the end, he
was unable to try it after coming short
on the 100-foot jump in practice and
messing up his motorcycle.
