Josh PHOTOS BV KARL OCKERT FRIDAY BALTIMORE, MD, JAN. 18-20 he original Beast from the East, Damon Bradshaw, was unstoppable in the 250cc class when the Speed Stick-presented National Arenacross Series hit Baltimore. The Simple Green Yamaha rider grabbed that class' win on both nights, and took a Saturday-night runner-up 125cc finish to back it up, though he could do no better than sixth in the Friday-evening tiddler contest. Still, it was enough to cut four points from the series lead of Josh Demuth, who topped Friday's 125cc race (Darcy Lange was the weekend's other winner). With the series now almost to the halfway point, Bradshaw is only seven points back. Robbie McQuary ripped out of the gate first in the 125cc main, grabbing another in a large collection of holeshots this season (and earning the $100 Powerade Holeshot Award in the process). The lead didn't last long, however, as Shogun Motor Sports Yamaha's Demuth quickly took to the front and garnered a convincing victory, extending his points lead over the off-performing Bradshaw (sixth in the race). Tuf Kawasaki's Lange was the runner up, with teammate Denny Stephenson completing the podium. The 250cc division was all Bradshaw, as the Yamaha rider snared the holeshot and never looked back. Demuth was a steady third, minimizing the damage caused by the dominant Bradshaw. The fans were feeling generous for the Dash For Cash, amassing a substantial purse that was taken by Lange. As for the freestyle jump-off, "Superman" Mike Mason styled to victory over Mike Leavitt and the versatile Jeff Willoh. SATURDAY Building on the momentum started on Friday night, the Saturday program brought some of the best racing of the season thus far. Lange got the jump off the line in the 125cc category, and he never relinquished his position. It was the third victory of the season for the Kawasaki pilot. As for Demuth (Yam); 3.
