STORV AND PHOTOS BV CRAIG JOHNSON AND ANGELA HARDER REDDICK, FL, JAN. 6 rian Gray and Troy Adams were , the big winners at Motocross of Marion County, which hosted round two of the FMF-sponsored Florida Winter Am Series. Each rider won at least one moto in each class: Gray won the 250cc/500cc Pro and 125cc A-class overalls, and Adams won the 125cc Pro and 16-24-c1ass overalls. The day started out cloudy, with a light rain that lasted into the first few motos. Later, the track dried and became very tacky, making for excellent traction. Some 432 riders turned out for the Unlimited Sports event. Adams grabbed the first 125cc Pro-class holeshot, followed by Paul Currie, Billy Wood, Tyson Hadsell and Gray. Hadsell passed Wood for third before the first lap was over and then Currie for second on the next lap. Currie dropped out shortly after. On lap three, Hadsell slid out but kept second. That was all Adams needed to pull out a lead. The two finished first and second. Barry Carsten moved up from seventh to fourth in the first three laps. On lap four, Carsten passed Wood after the long tabletop for third. Gray went backward before moving back up and passing Wood for fourth. After the halfway mark, Wood dropped back, and Bowen moved to fifth. Gray was taking a tremendous amount of roost from Carsten, looking for a place to pass. Finally, Gray took his goggles off and settled into fourth. The order stayed the same for the remainder. In the second moto, Nick Vaughn led the pack. Gray, Adams, Jarrett Tipping, Hadsell and Carsten followed. After lap one, Adams passed into second. Gray tried to repass but clipped Adams' rear wheel and went down. Gray started from the rear of the pack. Hadsell and Carsten passed Tipping on lap two. The order was now Vaughn, Adams, Hadsell, Carsten, Tipping and Bowen. On lap three, Adams, Hadsell and Carsten passed Vaughn and put him in fourth. The top three pulled away. Hadsell kept close to Adams until the last lap and then backed off. Carsten came in third, and Vaughn was able to keep fourth to the finish. With two laps to go, Bowen passed Tipping for fifth. The 250cc/500cc Pro contest started with Hadsell leading; Tipping, Gray, Carsten, Travis Blackburn, Adams and Anthony Pocarobba fol- 32 JANUARY 30. 2002' cue lLeft) Troy Adams was victorious in the 125cc Pro and 16·24 classes at round two of the Florida Winter Am Serles.
