At the unleashing of the 250cc main, it was once again Thibedeau and HamiJton fighting for supremacy. Again, Thibedeau took the win, leaving Hamilton to swallow second place once more, though Hamilton would later get his revenge in the Before The Hill class. The duo were followed by the KTM four-stroke rider Shane Hanson in third, and Joey Mancuso and Page took fourth and fifth, respectively. As the 85cc Open riders left the gate, it was obvious who was going to win, as Shawn Haberlock got out into the lead right from the get-go and just totally walked away from the competition. He was distantly followed by KX80 pilots Greg Ferguson and Alec Watts. Taking over the fourth-place spot was the 85cc Beginner winner, Brandon Hess, who in turn was followed by Cody Cosens. In the 50cc Open class, Brody Thom took his first win in that class after points leader Brad Frace had the misfortune of seeing his chain fall off, thus ending up in dead last. Following Thom was Mini speedster Cody Mecham, and then Kasey Wallace, Triton Cole, and the only rider in the top five not on a Cobra, Kasea jockey Brendon Johnson. Results Clark County Fairgrounds: Jason McCormick and Tracy Johnson battle in the 250cc main at the fifth round of the Clark County Arenacross Series in Vancouver, Washington. When the gate dropped for the 250cc Pro main, the KTM-mounted Blanchard nabbed the holeshot and then tried to pull away from everyone else. His plan didn't work, though, for by the fifth lap both McCormick and John- Clark County Fairgrounds Thibedeau Takes Over Clark County son had gotten in front of him and started to pull away. From there on, everyone seemed to By JUSTIN WHARTON be satisfied with their positions, as there were no real battles happening - aside from the Pros lapping all of the Intermediates who ran with them. McCormick took a big win. followed by Johnson and Blanchard. In the 50cc Beginner class. Brendon Johnson, on his Kasea, took the win, fighting off both Devin Harriman and Mason Wharton, who took second and third, respectively. Taking fourth was Colton Scott, and the fifth-place spot went to Johnson's younger brother Trey, VANCOUVER,WA,DEC.29 Bryan Thibedeau swept both the 125cc and 250cc Intermediate classes at the sixth round of the Promoto Promotions Clark County Are· nacross series in Vancouver, Washington. Joining Thibedeau in the double-class winners' circle on the day were Brad Frace, in the 50cc (7-9) and 65cc (4-8) classes; Landon Currier, in the 65cc Open and 65cc (9-11) classes; Shawn Haberlock, in the 85cc (12-15), 85cc Open and Supermini classes; Curtis Wharton, in the 250cc Junior and Vet Sport classes; and Kiel Krogstadt, in the I 25cc and 250cc Pro classes. Thibedeau jumped out of the gate the fastest in the 125cc Intermediate main event, and from there on he proceeded to pull away from James Hamilton, who had put on a great charge from fourth to second in a matter of a couple of laps, and Tyson Blood, who had a little battle with Hamilton in the very beginning but eventually had to settle for third. During the rest of the race, everyone sort of just settled into where they were, including the lone Pro, Krogstadt, who rode a little bit in front of the Intermediates. At the checkers, it was Thibedeau with the win, followed by Hamilton, Blood, Richard Page and Jason Thomas. also on a Kasea. Results 50 OJL·INJ: 1. Slnjln Stroupe (Yam): 2. Levi Gillls (YlIm): 3. Collins: FasTrac Fliers By HUGH GATUN CAIRO, GA, DEC. 8 O'NeaI/Azonic/Blur Optics/Factory Effex/NoToil-backed riders Cole Cherpak and Sean Collins rode their Cycle Nation Yamahas to three wins and a third-place finish at FasTrac MX Park's final race of the year. Cherpak scored wins in the Supermini and 85cc (12-15) classes; Collins topped the 125cc C class and finished third in the Youth (12-15) division. J&J Cycle Center of Valdosta rider Ashley Vickery completed the opening lap of the first Supermini moto ahead of Cherpak, Derrick Miller and Tyler Rodgers. Cherpak chased Vickery the entire distance but was unable to find a way past. Miller placed third. Cherpak was fastest off the line in moto two, but Vickery's gate selection allowed him to sweep past in the first turn. WhJle Vickery set a blistering pace, a determined Cherpak kept himself in contention by staying on the same straight as the Kawasaki rider. On the last lap, Vickery low-sided while railing a 180degree, Single-groove berm. Cherpak capitalized on the miscue and shot past for the win. Vickery remounted for second, ahead of Miller. Dustin Admire and Collins battled throughout the first 125cc C moto. KTM-mounted Rion Baker pushed hard to stay in contact with the lead pair. It wasn't until the last lap that Admire was able to break away from Collins for the win. Baker was third. In race two, Collins pulled the holeshot on his YZ250 four-stroke. He built a quick lead and then cruised to the win. Baker finished second, ahead of Clark O'Brien. Bill Bullard grabbed the lead in the first combined Youth (12-15) and (16-29) moto. The top seven riders stayed in a tight group during the initial laps. Collins held second before yielding to Honda-mounted Chad Williams and Admire. On lap three, Williams passed Bullard for the lead over a tabletop. Justin Link, working from a fourth-place start, tripled past Williams for the win just after the white fiag was thrown. Rounding out the top five were Bullard, Baker and Chase Livingston. Bullard led race two, with Link right behind. On the first lap, Link tripled past for the lead. Things didn't get any easier for Bullard; he came under heavy pressure from Collins, who had Williams breathing down his neck. Link won, Bullard held onto second, and Williams tagged Collins for third. Lone Suzuki rider Trey Johnson pulled a huge holeshot in the first II-rider 85cc Beginner moto, ahead of Nathan Adams, Justin Vangorder and Brandon Devilbiss. Devilbiss moved into second but couldn't make a dent in Johnson's lead. Vangorder placed third, ahead of Adams. In race two, Yamaha-mounted Adams took the start, ahead of Kawasaki jockeys Devilbiss, Vangorder and Andrew Mozley. A terrible start had Johnson running eighth. Adams bobbled on the front straight and Devilbiss took the point. Johnson sliced through the pack and held second halfway into lap two. Devilbiss ran strong up front but couldn't shake Johnson. On the last lap, Johnson jammed underneath Devilbiss to complete a 1-1 sweep. Vangorder, Adams and Mozley were next across the line. eN Results Clark County Fairgrounds: Bryan Thibedeau (150) absconds with the holeshot in the 125cc Intermediate main event, with James Hamilton (281), Joey Mancuso (356) and Andy Page (181) in tow, at the sixth round of the Clark County Arenacross Series in Vancouver, Washington, e n e _ s OPEN Pf'N: t.
