(Above) Bradshaw had a stellar day on Friday, winning everything, but on Saturday a little bad luck held him to two thirds. Racing is always tight in Arenacross, but it was especially so In the Van AndelArena, asthese two photos document. Bradshaw and Demuth right behind him. Lange rode a strong race, holding Bradshaw and Demuth back for over half the race until Bradshaw finally got him, but he had no intentions of letting Demuth by him, too. Instead, Lange hung tough and held on for second place. Demuth finish in third - as it turned out, his worst finish of the weekend - while Hofmaster and Holland rounded out the top five. In the Dash for Cash, Bradshaw held off Damien Plotts and Stephenson to take the win for his fifth DFC victory of the year. SATURDAY In Saturday's 125cc main, Jeff Willoh came out swinging, taking the Powerade Holeshot money, with Demuth chasing right behind him. Demuth eventually took over the lead, while Willoh held on to second. A fight for third broke out between Hagseth and Hofmaster, and Bradshaw was right behind them. Bradshaw had seen enough and managed to get them both, but Hagseth came right back and passed Bradshaw. But that didn't last for long, as Bradshaw went on the attack again, this time getting by Hagseth for good. At the finish, it was Demuth taking his first win of the weekend, while Willoh made the podium, in second, for the first time this season. Bradshaw finished out the race in third, followed by Hagseth, Lange, Stephenson and DeHoop. Lange captured his first Dash For Cash win of the year, leading both Demuth and Todd DeHoop from start to finish. Bradshaw had to sit out Saturday's DFC after having to qualify for the 250cc main event through the Last Chance qualifier. In the 250cc main, Lange took his second holeshot of the weekend and tried to hold off the flying Demuth, but to no avail. Holland, meanwhile, began dicing with Willoh for third, while Bradshaw, who gated sixth after starting on the second line, was working his way up. Bradshaw appeared to be the only rider able to pass on the tight track, as he eventually took over third and started challenging Lange for second. Bradshaw pushed and pushed, but Lange held his ground. At the fin- ish, it was Demuth scoring his second win in a row, while Lange held on to finish second over Bradshaw. Willoh ended up fifth, just ahead of Holland, Stephenson, Hagseth and Hofmaster. CN Van Andel Arena &,.n~ Rapids, Michigan Results: Jaauary 4-5, 2002 Friday 125 PRO: 1 Damon Bradshaw (Yam): 2.
