entrants in the 50cc (4-6) PW/JR class. Sigler took solid back-to-back wins. With Cobras and Polinis so dominant in speed and suspension, the AMP crew, much to the delight of the parents, designed a separate class for the little oil-injected Yamahas and Suzukis, as they are still the bike of choice for many of the youngest kids. eN AMP Nmon.1 Tl1lCk lit Pnirie City Rancho Cordov., C.lifomill Results: November 11. 2001 [Round 5J Pee Wee Track 50 (4·6) PW/JR; 1. KaceTek Southeast Motocross Series Round 5: Riverside MX Park Kiley Wily at Riverside Bv HUGH GATLIN NEWTON, AL, NOV. 18 n the sandy straights and highbanked berms of Riverside MX, battle-hardened racer Ed Kiley topped the Vet Money class. Riding an RM250, Kiley posted 1-1 moto finishes against a competitive 10-rider field that included longtime AMA National campaigner Ricky Palmer and Honda/Yamaha of Mongomery's Darryl Heisler. With the area in the grip of a twomonth drought, track owner Jamie Tompson did an excellent job of prerace watering to keep the dust under control. Race director Rhett Peel and his starting crew kept the program moving briskly and handled 20 classes with daylight to spare. Keith Finch enhanced the racing action with his high-energy announcing skills. Kiley got the holeshot in the first Vet Money /125cc Money moto, ahead of Heisler. By the end of lap one, he had built a small lead. Kevin O Knight picked up the pace and took the lead from Kiley with an inside pass. Palmer, on the comeback trail after a two-year layoff, ran as high as third before John Melton moved past. Knight won, ahead of Kiley. Kiley led race two, ahead of Palmer and Davy Duprel. Going into turn two, Kiley took Palmer high; they made contact, and Palmer hit the turf. Heisler passed for second on lap two, and Lee Kober held fourth. By halfway, Kiley was in complete control. Heisler's 5-2 tally was good for second overall. Next across the line were Duprel, Kober, and a closing Chan Senn. YZ426F -mounted Melton scored the 250cc Money win. After forcing his way under Kiley on lap two of the first moto, he held off a late run by Knight and won by two seconds. Behind Kiley, Duprel was a steady fourth. Melton pulled a great holeshot in race two and led Kiley, Heisler and CR250-mounted Lee Spann. At one point, Melton ran off the track but was still able to keep the lead. Heisler went down in the "beach section" and Spann moved to third. Melton had speed to burn through the whoop section and used the advantage to grab another win over a charging Kiley. In the 18-rider 80cc D class. James Devilbiss passed early leader Christian Tramel in the whoops and pulled away for the first-moto win. On the final lap, Bruce Lee broke away from a tight battle with Josh Wynn and Jacob Griffith and placed second. In heat two, Devilbiss gated from the center of the starting line and came around the first turn ahead of Tramel, Lee and Brandon Devilbiss. On the second lap. Lee cut under Tramel for second in a right-hander. Wynn and Griffith put their KX80s into third and fourth. Devilbiss rode unchallenged to first place. With the finish line in sight, Lee went down hard over a left-angled tabletop. Tramel moved back to second, ahead of Wynn and Griffith, for a Kawasaki sweep of the top four overall positions. In only his second race on a 125cc machine, Corey Patrick swapped wins with B&C Racing's Buck Hartzog in the 125 C class. Hartzog chased Patrick the entire distance in moto one. Montgomery, Alabama's Austin Pebworth ran third and held back a challenge from Matt Peevy on the last lap. The roles were reversed in round two. Hartzog led from start to finish as Patrick tried in vain to close the gap between them. Peevy swapped finishes with Pebworth and picked up third overall. Hartzog was also the victor in the 250cc C class. In moto one, Scott Manning kept the pressure on Jeff Lutker and sliced underneath for the win on the last lap. Starting outside the top five, Hartzog made a crucial pass on lap three when he flew past Regal Hamm for third over a double jump. Again, Lutker's Yamaha was fastest off the line in moto two. David Moon and Hartzog followed. Hartzog moved to second, then doubled past Lutker on lap two. Hamm went to third and held that spot to the end. Lutker had no answer to Hartzog's pass and settled for second. Manning passed Moon late in the race for fourth and finished the day in third position. Hartzog's 3- 1 score broke a points tie with Lutker's 2-2 for the overall. Dothan, Alabama's Evan Smith scored the win in the combined Pee Wee class. In race one, he passed Dylan Scott, only to drop his Cobra in an S turn. He remounted just in time to stay ahead of KTM riders Scott, James Arias and Blake Noble. Smith regained full control and finished ahead of Scott, who had broken away from Arias and Noble. In moto two, Smith built a large lead by the end of lap one and scored another win. In close racing, Scott, Arias and Noble duplicated their firstmoto scores. Zack Goodwin brought his four-stroke Honda home fourth. eN RIverside MX hrk Newton...........
