By KAT SPANN AND THE BECKSTER PHOTOS BY CONNIE JOHNSON FORT WORTH, TX,NOV. 10-11 exan James Marshall used good performances throughout the five-race series of the AMA Texas/ Oklahoma Pro Circuit Fall Classic to glean the coveted Dunlop Silver Cup Award. Marshall collected 615 points among the 125cc Intermediate, 125cc Open, 250cc Open and 250cc Intermediate classes, mastering the latter with a perfect score. Three other riders also collected perfect scores in all five races Jacqueline Hudson in the Ladies class, Kyle Cunningham in the 65cc (10-11) class, and Charles Martin in the 85cc Beginner class. Several classes had close competition at the final round, with five or less points separating first place from second. The closest points finish was between Jesse Moore and Cody Dickey in the 125cc Schoolboy class; Moore beat out Dickey by a single point. Trey Canard won the 8xc (7-11) category by two points in front of Kyle Cunningham, while Marvin Skinner took the win in the Over 30 Novice class by two points in front of Trevor Parks. Josh Chabert and Marc Williams raced neck and neck, with Chabert winning the 125cc Beginner contest with 117 points to Williams' 114. The 51cc Open win went to Tyler Heemsbergen, with 124 points to Caleb Dowell's 124. David Jensen, Jeremy Ross and Justin Bogle won their respective classes by a five-point margin; Jensen won the 250cc Novice class, Ross the Four-Stroke class, and Bogle the 51cc (7-8) class. Iowa's Teddy Maier battled with fellow Team Green rider Marshall in the 125cc Intermediate and 125cc Open events. Maier got the holeshot in the first 125cc Intermediate moto, with Marshall in his wake. Marshall got around Maier and began to gain some ground, while another heated battle raged for third, between Texan Jonathan Kerr and Louisiana's Micah Thibodeaux. Kerr kept Thibodeaux at bay until the final lap, when Thibodeaux used the last corner to make the pass for third. Adam T umer finished fifth. Maier grabbed the second-moto holeshot, with Kerr in second. Maier led lap two, with Kerr still in second, followed by Dickey and Marshall. On lap three, Marshall got around Maier and led the remainder of the moto, chased by Maier at the checkers. Dickey finished third, with Jesse Moore and Kerr rounding out the top five. Maier got the holeshot in the first 125cc Open moto, with Turner at his back tire. Marshall got around Turner on the first lap and went after Maier, passing for the lead in the rhythm section. Danny Kelsey passed Turner for third, with Riley Kurosky in his wake, displacing Turner to fifth. 68 JANUARY 2. 2002' cue I (Above) The hotly contested 125cc Beginner class had a different winner at every round. Steven McWIlliams (41 finally won at the last round of the series at Village Creek Motocross Partt in Fort Worth, Texas. Josh Chabert (793) took the overall with 117 out of a possible 165 points. (Right! Consistency paid off for Martt Lamb, who topped the Over 35 Vet class with only one win but four second-place finishes throughout the series. Lamb also finished a respectable second overall In the Over 40 class. e n _ vv s Kurosky chased Kelsey into lap three, passing into third, with Kelsey and Turner following in that order for the remainder of the race. Marshall won the second moto and gathered 30 more points. Maier finished second, with Kurosky third, Randall Williams fourth and Kelsey fifth. The 125cc Schoolboy contest was a points thriller going into the final round, with Jesse Moore a mere eight points in front of Dickey, and Kerr six points behind Dickey. Moore grabbed the firstmoto holeshot, in front of Dickey and Kerr. Moore held the lead into the final lap before Dickey passed him in the final woods section for the lead. Moore held on to second, followed by Kerr. Kerr fired back in moto two and took the win, along with the overall, and added 30 points to his booty. Rusty Huddle finished second and used his fifth-place first-moto finish to claim the third-place points. Dickey (1-3) placed second. Moore finished fifth but garnered fourth overall, with Riley Kurosky fifth. Since both Moore and Dickey ran all five races in the series, an additional 15-point bonus was added to their overall scores. Moore's 123 tally edged Dickey's 122 by a single point. Kerr finish third, despite his third-round absence. The 125cc Beginner class had 24 riders on the gate. Josh Chabert had 87 points, Clint Welch had 81 and Marc Williams had 78. Steven McWilliams entered the final race at Village Creek with 40 points, having had less-thanstellar results at the first two rounds. McWilliams grabbed the first-moto holeshot and never looked back. Williams gated second and held the position to the finish. Chabert started in third but ended up losing the position to Jimmy Bellah. Chabert faded to fifth when Joe Loftin got around him. McWilliams got the moto-two holeshot, with Chabert second. Bellah got around Chabert on the first lap. Williams ran fourth, followed by Jarod Doss and Loftin. Both Williams and Doss passed Chabert on lap two. Loftin passed Chabert for fifth on lap three and then passed Doss for fourth on the final lap. McWilliams (1-1) took the overall win and collected 30 points. Bellah (3 -2) fi n i shed second overa 11. Williams (2-3) was third, and Loftin (4-4) fourth. Chabert took the series overall win with 117 points to Williams' 114. Welch (98) was third. McWilliams ended the series in fourth overall with 90 points. eN
